You can pull KDSS codes without Techstream using this method

Want to get the most out of your KDSS equipped 4Runner or Lexus GX? With our revolutionary KDSS control harness kit, you can control when your KDSS system is engaged. As the only product on the market that uses all factory-spec parts end to end (from the exact matching wiring to factory sourced plugs, pins, and insulators), you can be sure that your product will function as well as factory equipment does.
Above 12mph, your KDSS is programmed to go into its stiff or "control" mode, but if you're off roading or hitting bumps or potholes at 25mph, you don't want your KDSS system fighting your suspension (whether factory or especially upgraded aftermarket). By using this harness, you can keep the KDSS in soft/disengaged mode for much better ride comfort at medium speeds in rough situations letting your suspension do its work and then when you find well paved roads again or need to make quick lane changes where you need the stiffer sway bar feel for sharper handling characteristics, flip your chosen switch to re-engage your KDSS seamlessly.
Every harness is assembled and tested before sale here in Southern California.
Sold in 2 variants, 1 with custom factory fit LED lighted switch (manufactured by AirOnBoard, choice of factory blue or amber), 1 without switch (terminating wire ends, so you can wire it into a control module you already have ie Switchpros, sPod, etc).

This could be an interesting mod for on-road & on-highway travel.
I'm not advocating... but for those looking for more float on freeway it may give you a little more of that suspension behavior.

From what I gather...
It toggles the system between off and normal operating mode. So it still goes off as designed below 12mph as if nothing is different.
When not engaged, the vehicle operates as it does from the factory then when the harness is engaged, it turns kdss off at all speeds until it is disengaged or the ignition cycles.

This seems pretty cool. I was wondering if it would put any undue stress on the front and rear KDSS pistons though? They are designed to be moving at lower speeds (12mph or less), and I'm wondering if higher impacts and faster, longer stroke movements at higher speeds (25+ mph) could cause higher stresses on components that weren't originally designed for that? Saw a post on GXOR FB of a guy breaking his KDSS piston rod WITHOUT this modification because he says he "wheels hard". I really like this idea for comfort and independent wheel travel at moderate speeds, but I'm just curious if it could cause damage? Thoughts?

Time will tell I guess. Apparently many 4R owners have done something with a toggle switch for years.
Wonder if the one you mentioned breaking piston had a borderline higher lift on upper end and didn't leverage KDSS spacers?

KDSS control switch
Not sure if anyone has seen this but I had been watching this thing for a while and it has finally been released:

I ordered one to try.

KDSS Manual On / Off Switch
@dr_kdss figured out which terminals to break and is producing a plug and play harness. He is also producing factory style switches. This will allow you to be in kdss mode to give you more flex above 12mph auto threshold.
pretty cool if you ask me.

the kdss on the 200 series doesn’t work the same as the kdss on the 4runner and the gx line. Close but not same. 200 series sway is mounted on the frame like traditional sway bars and then they introduce the kdss shock deal on one of the arms for the sway bar vs on a 4r or gx the sway bar is mounted on a swinging link / shock.
