Just look at where peak torque happens on the US engine. For a truck that is basically a house on wheels and meant to tow, it is better to have more torque coming in at the lower revs.

BTW, though GX is a big truck, I felt it was easy to maneuver when compared with my boat (LS - funny I said that.

Love the passion and technical depth the members have here. This forum influenced me to get Lexus LS over BMW 7 series.
Interesting that you find the GX has more road noise than the LS. I expected my 2018 GX to have more wind noise, and it does and should with its giant elephant ear side mirrors and the aerodynamics of a house. I find the road noise in my GX to be remarkably low, significantly lower than my 2017 LS460 AWD. I live in NYC so the roads are terrible here. Road noise drive me nuts and I am extremely sensitive to it when I had a 2008 ES, 2011 ES, 2011 RX, 2010 RX, 2015 GX and now both the LS and GX. The GX was the quietest in terms of road noise of all the Lexus vehicles I have owned or own.

You are 100% correct. I don't know how I missed that. I did not think that they tuned it to make torque more usable on lower speeds.

Default 2020 gx-460

need some advice. I just got a new 2020 GX-460. I have driven them for years but, weather tech does not have 2020 GX-460 floor liners yet. My question, will 2019 GX floor liners fit. There does not seem to be much difference between the 2
Thanks - Merry Christmas n Happy New Year

congrats on the new GX. I think you will find that most accessories that would fit 14-19 will also fit the 2020 models. And likely many of the 10-13 accessories related to the interior will also fit.

I'd be shocked if they don't fit... it's the same vehicle with a few minor updates

I have a 2020 GX and I ordered the 2019 Weather Tech front & rear. Just got them yesterday and they fit perfectly.

While the LS460 version of the engine has more power, it does require a few downshifts for it to get going. The GX will just hop off the line and go as soon as you step on the gas. Of course in a drag race the LS will win out eventually to 60mph.
