Yes. It is the same on 15 GX. Just hold the cruise control on/off switch for 2+ seconds, the cruise control indicator will change from the speedometer with a car symbol to a speedometer with an arrow, you will now have a conventional cruise control.

I am doing a little bit of research as I myself is getting a Check Sonar System error message on my already equipped 2011 GX460.

Kudos to the OP for tackling this massive retrofit project but I am wondering does the actual emblem itself being damaged from road debris (cracked) can cause the sonar system to throw error?

I am currently getting the Check Sonar System error message but I can still fully active and deactivate the Dynamic Cruise control system. I can even adjust the 3 levels of distance during the Cruise Mode and it does not seem to have any problem keeping distance and braking when needed and seems to be fully functioning.

Basically what I am asking is, does anyone know if the emblem components themselves can cause an error? I took a peak and they are not physically or electronically connected to the sensor at all and they are just placed infront of the actual sensor more so like a shield but I am wondering if the emblem perhaps serves as a barrier component that can cause it to throw errors?

Just trying to figure this out one at a time. I really appreciate all your help guys! Thank you very much in advance.

I got this to work, which is great, but it defaults back to radar cruise on every restart. I wonder if there's a setting in Techstream where you could change the default?

the sonar errors should have nothing to do with your adaptive cruise control. Sonar is referring to parking sensors.

Unfortunately there is no way to set this to default to non-adaptive mode. It is part of part of safety feature and tired into pre collision warning system. It will always default to adaptive control when starting up. You just have to build up your own muscle memory when you turn on the cruise with two second press the button instead of quick press the on/off switch.

I did this retrofit again on a 2011 GX460. Was able to source most of the parts cheap from eBay (but there was only one of each for sale from the same Canadian GX460 that had been wrecked). These parts are rare but not needed by most people so they hang out on eBay for a while.

I did learn that you DO need to replace the brake master solenoid. Updated list below noting the change.

PARTS LIST:
1. ADD Radar Cruise Millimeter Wave Sensor (various part numbers depending on year) 88210-60100
2. REPLACE Steering wheel controls for Radar Cruise 84250-60210-C0
3. ADD Driving Support Computer 88150-60030
4. ADD Seat Belt Control ECU 89810-60020
5. REPLACE both front seat belts with PCS compatible ones 73220-60530-C0 and 73210-60790-C0
6. REPLACE Brake Master Cylinder Solenoid 47217-60111 (YES THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE)
7. ADD PCS switch 84770-50010
8. ADD SKID CONTROL BUZZER 86652-50010
9. REPLACE Front Emblem with Radar Compatible 53141-48050

I wonder if that is simply a a different flash on the skid control ECU versus any real hardware difference?

The early 10's had that flash for the ABS concern

I think it’s just a software difference. Not sure if it’s possible to gain access to the software and update it without having to replace.

I thought some of the flashes were available up on TIS but haven't been up there in a while. IIRC when doing crawl research there were Calibration IDs that I thought could be updated... not sure though... that was most 6 years ago now

I think it’s time we add Radar Cruise to your GX and try to mod the software to save $$$
