Android Auto / Apple Carplay

Yeah... with a Tesla for infotainment comparison... might be best to keep a dedicated tablet in rig and mounted.
What model do you have? S, X, 3? or older roadster? I really have no regrets with my '12. Since you seem to be tech centric I would search out for the equivalent model in '10-'13 with Driver Support package. They weren't called that..but easier to say. I would do this myself today if looking for a '10-'13.

I'm updating the Wiki here with more 460 links... most point back to CL but starting to look at threads on IH8Mud as well.

EDIT: You can always resell the AVS and rear AHC parts on eBay if you go with aftermarket lift and suspension but still have all the other options of a fully loaded model. They are rare though.

Thank you good to know. Looking at 2012 or 13 for preface lift for better off road angles and like the tone down front fascia look and slightly priced lower. Love everything about the 460, but this head unit is really bothering me, I guess I’m a little spoiled from my Tesla’s screen.

I’ve had the model s for almost 3 years wife loves the tech in it and now looks at everything else as less superior, she’s not a car person. We’ll be replacing this car with a SUV by the end of this year so looking around right now. Thanks for the info!

2016 GX Stereo Replacement with Carplay??
Has anyone recently replaced a GX stereo for one that has carplay? Specifically in a 2015-2017 model? I am very interested in doing this. I just bought a new to me 2016 GX and would really like the carplay functionality, especially for texting. I realize that Lexus is going to be releasing this, but there was still no guarantee what models will have it. Also, the laws recently changed in GA where you can't even have your phone in your hand in the car....EVER! I realize this is the safest way to go in the long run, but I am a big texter. I've looked online but can't seem to find any carplay models that mention the GX as a compatible model. I was thinking about taking it to BestBuy Geek Squad, but now I'm wondering if I will need to go to a specialty place. Also...I am adding a dvd player from the roof that will be installed by Lexus. Do I need to worry about this effecting the dvd sound? Thanks

For your 2016 GX, you can using Siri for texting. I don’t think there is anyone here had completely replacing head unit yet. However, Beats Sonic do have a solution to add phone mirror function to exit head unit.

Naviks Carplay Module?
New member, just bought a '15 460 Premium, coming from a current-gen Pilot. Would love to figure out a Carplay option. I'm seeing this module at Naviks that seems to just require a video-in interface, which are available 3rd party. Anyone tried this yet?

Since nobody replied, I've gone ahead and ordered from Naviks. They put together a package of three components that they say will get this working in a '15. Will report back, but the videos look good -- as long as you don't hate the remote control interface instead of touchscreen.

Interesting. It looks like Grom "unofficially" supports Carplay as well while they claim to be working on Apple certification. I may need to cancel my Navik order and get this, as the price is similar and Grom supports touchscreen.
