Depending on how loud you play music you may need to do both sides, not just the side where the sub is.
In my experience, it's nearly impossible to have too much Dyna-mat. Go nuts with it!

Good advice. Not only will it hopefully stop rattles, in some cases it can be applied in a way to let less sound escape, therefore more for you.

Yes. And, even with no stereo on, it will cut out some road noise which is always a good thing.

If I was mega rich, I'd have my entire car mat'd from front to back the day I picked it up.

This has all you could ask for. A wide range of low frequencies, nuns with guns, no need to go on after nuns with guns. Can find rattles all over the GX. Bluetooth into the ML from your phone and try it out. VOL <30 until you tweak the settings

Believe it or not, the cheapest el cheapo all in one sub combo box gets good reviews. imagine having this in a GX with the cabin air volume making it sound good then they see what it was

Default Thanks for all the input

The sub was rattling because one of the mounts that secures it to the frame had snapped loose. The fix we plan to do is to make a new enclosure in there using some "slurrie" - kind of a polymer/fiberglass mix. Should do the trick.

Cheers
Casey

Default Mark Levinson system sounds “hollow” tinny.

I recently purchased a 2016 Luxury GX. Love it so far, except for this supposedly great ML sound system. I’ve tried so many adjustments but can’t seem to get a full sound...Appears to miss “ channels “ of sound. Very weak base no matter the position. Best sound I can get is to position most sound to rear. I feel maybe sound speakers are not responding or maybe blown? Any advice is greatly appreciated. (I’m coming out of a 2011 Infiniti FX (had two for 16 years) which has fabulous Bose sound.)

Make sure it is adjusted properly? Ours sounds amazing and was a 'must have' when we were shopping for our GX. No matter what genre of music I play, it always sounds great. What source are you using for your music? If you're using low quality MP3s or streaming via BT, the quality might suffer.

Bluetooth sounds the best, actually! I’m going to try adjustments recommended in a prior post.

I'll try and remember to get a picture of my adjustments when I go out later. The system really sings when it's at volume level 35 or higher too...

Mine too sounds great! Just out of curiosity, what type of music are you into? Have you gone through the manual yet?
If you're into hip-hop, rap or other bass-centric genres of music at elevated volumes, yes you may be disappointed.
This was just discussed a few posts ago, and one suggestion I made was that you could add a small amp and sub-woofer.
Good friends of mine purchased new, two years ago a 2017 4Runner with everything and they too were disappointed with the sound and did just that, when to a quality sound shop and added an amp and sub-woofer. The new 4Runners are the essentially the same platform as our GX's (150 series). Note that my friends and I are in our mid to late 50's so if we're needing a bump in sound quality, it's not because we're trying to rattle windows going through neighborhoods.
