You got LEXUSGX on your plate. That's awesome good call on keeping the frame simple.

Well, the plate finally came in. Now people will not stop me as much and ask me what that is I am driving. I have only seen one other in my area and it's a 2014 so it looks sort of different and can't be confused with anything else. Everyone who has stopped me really is impressed once they see it. A lot of people think it's a 4Runner but one guy thought it was a Hyundai! Thought it best to just label it! LOL

Nice, I thought it would not have the space in between LEXUS and GX. I like my vanity plate but if I ever **** someone off or try to get away with anything it is easy to identify me. I always wanted the James Bond plate that would flip over .

Thanks for the compliment. Good call on the Bond reference! . Maybe we can get those rotating plates along with the oil spray and ejection seat as another "driver protection package!" I always thought that old Aston Martin was an awesome car and Connery is still the best Bond IMHO. My frame sort of looks gold in the photo but it is actually silver. I need to get some plain screws so I can put the little covers over them. The hex top bolts look a little sketchy.

I bought a $15 generic stainless steal kit from some common parts store (don't recall) to prevent theft and to get a smaller head.

Default 2010 GX 460 License Plate LEDs Burned Out - Solutions?

I have a 2010 GX 460. The drivers side tag LED is burned out and when I removed the housing the passenger side dimmed to the point that is no longer legal. To replace the LEDs and their attached harness at the Lexus dealer would be $475 (ouch!). The harness and housing part 8127060410 costs between $125 and $185 online. In order to replace the harness the rear door panel must be removed.

I’m willing to purchase the new harness and housings but cannot find Youtube videos or message threads describing how to remove the GX 460 rear cargo door panel (there are posts out there about GX 470 models though).

I found a couple of LEDs I purchased to retrofit the headliner lights of a Toyota Landcruiser I no longer own. I think these will work as far as brightness goes. I am willing to use them and take the existing license plate housing lens off to solder a replacement LED to the burned out one’s wire leads. This would be the cheapest option but will be difficult as there is not much slack in the wiring harness.

I would appreciate any advise that ClubLexus members would offer on my issue - please let me know if you have information and/or suggestions on how to address the burned out license plate LEDs. Thank you!

OK - I'll amend my post - Has anyone on this ClubLexus board ever removed their GX 460 rear cargo door panel?

If so, would you please respond with some suggestions and cautions for me before I try to remove mine? Thanks.

Default 2016 GX460 - License panel replacement

Greetings,

Couldnt really find anything about doing this, so I thought I would ask. I need to replace or have replaced the trim piece in the rear door of my GX. Trailer tongue incident that I would rather not get into... Anyway, can anyone offer guidance on this repair? Specifically interior trim removal, tools, any gotchas...

The part that I damaged is # 6 in this diagram. It has a trailer tongue size cut in the license plate, and the trim behind. My initial thought I that if there is a place on the vehicle that I could pick to gouge with a trailer, this might be it... but I would like any insight as to what I’m getting into if possible. Thanks!

Good call... either nerf your trailer hitch or get your ***** together. You're welcome!

Default Tow hook license plate holder for GX460?

Hi
I am looking for tow hook license plate holder for my 2017 GX
Googled a bit but didn't find anything specially designed for GX.
I wonder if anyone actually bought any license plate holder which works fine with their GX
Thanks!

I don’t think the GX comes with a screw in tow hook like some other vehicles.

If you need to run front plates, I’d see if the zip tie option would work instead of drilling. The 2014+ lower grille might be able to fit the plate.

If that doesn’t work, you could make or buy the plate frame/holder and then purchase some stainless steel brackets and bolts to make a custom attachment to your lower grille.
