my apologies, i have the instruction(pg.4798 & pg.4803) on how to remove it, its whether or not i can replace the clips or adhesive taping mentioned in the instructions.
when i push on it, it will clip into place, but once i drive it pops back out.
Not sure all clips are the same but they appear to be replaceable. I haven't seen a picture of this piece from the back side and didn't pay attention when I had my rear door panel off so not sure.
It does look like a lot of disassembly to get that part off. I don’t think clips that hold that piece on are readily visible except by looking into the service holes you exposed.
@WRD4chano
how are the chrome trim pieces held on by, Phillips screws?
i need to take off my barn door trim panel to install Kaon shelf. I might as well wrap the chrome trim pieces while I’m at it. I’m not a pro with vinyl. The further my knife blade is away from the paint, the happier I’ll be.
Thanks for the tip on the Sly Bracket! I just took delivery of my 2021 GX 460 and I was sweating drilling the holes for the front plate.
(BTW-I am just up the Tollway from you in Frisco.)

As a former north DFW resident and Texas native I only wanted to say how dumb the front license plate law thing is. Thankfully both my 470 and 460 do not have holes in their front bumpers so I'm going to redneck science a solution with some L brackets and such until I get front bumper replacements. I'm absolutely NOT drilling holes in the bumper just for a stupid license plate. I'm hoping to get a front bumper replacement for both that'll have license plate holes already drilled which solves more than one problem.
Black zip ties work just as well in 99% of cases to secure the plate to the front grill. This is how our 2005 Corolla is attached for 4 years with no issues. Cost $1, maybe, and took 1 minute.
Current Front Bracket screw holes are marked by small "dimples" in the grille
surface and are pretty innocuous down inside the grid pockets. Worst ever
were the early years (pre-2010) ES's that just brutally screwed right into the
middle of the smooth painted bumper cover. When removed the twisted
kerf of ruined dark gray plastic hung out pitifully. Mis-colored plastic plugs
would cap the wound but looked like pimples in any light.
just picked up a 2015 GX460 Lux after selling my FJ. Needed more space for children. Got my vehicle registered today and went to take off the temp tag from dealer and noticed openings into the outside of the tailgate, doesn't look right for some reason to me. Should there be another plastic cover here to keep out moisture and dust or does the plate actually serve as a cover? Added a couple pictures of my new truck, only mod so far is a taillight swap, not a fan of the clear tails. Thanks in advance.
