Of course, the G-wagen is over 2x more expensive than the most expensive GX! So, in towing test in video, what if you have TWO GX pull the Jeep...would it be easier?
Yes, and a two door Wrangler would resolve the breakover angle problem.
Exactly, plus the towing part is a little wonky. The JL is only a wimpy V6, G wagon is V8, pretty sure the GX was a V8 also. So doubtful it was going to have the umph to pull anything up. I don't get how they factored a weight difference of 50kg between the JL and GX. Curb weight of the GX was 5800 and a JL is 4455. I get they added some stuff to make it "comparable" but doubtful it was an additional 1400lbs.
Don't get me wrong I love our GX and I think it's plenty capable but if I'm going to back in the sticks I'll beat up on my Jeep.
Very interesting video. Capability and Comfort biased for sure but thats fine. Again most folks spend most of their time inside the cabin so the comfier the better and the G wagen surely makes it cozy.
Yea - I agree. At least outfit all three with the same rubber. the Jeep is running KM2's, and the other two have street tires.
I suspect the outcome would have been the same (tires won't change breakover angle) but there would have been less stress and white knuckles (less slip).

Also, changing tires will allow for more effective airing down which would increase traction.
