That’s pretty cool. If the magnets are strong enough they should hold the panel on well but the protective coating may cause the panel to slide if forced by an off-road obstacle. If it slides into the door opening front side from using reverse gear I guess it would pop off with no damage when opening the door?

While these things might keep your car from getting dinged, they won't keep your car from getting scratched - if nothing else but from the dirt/dust trapped between the magnets and the paint.

I'd want to put PPF down first.

Magnets are silicone coated but agree having a PPF down in contact points would be a good idea.

On a side note..the OEM Lexus hood deflector also comes with a strip of PPF as part of the installation.

That only helps if the magnets and the paint are spotless on the contact surfaces.

While clear coat protection could be in doubt... prevention of deep scratches to the primer or beyond appear to be safe. We will have to just keep an eye out if clear coat damage is the norm with these. Product has only been out less than a year.
