Multi Terrain Select MTS install on 2017 GX 460 Luxury
Thank you to all in the DAC vs CC forum for all the post and information on installing the multi terrain select module.
I purchased the 859A1-60040 from lexuspartsnow.com it fits the 2017 GX 460 luxury with driver assist and crawl control. Takes about 40-50 minutes for disassembly.
Top tip, use the plastic tools on the dash, flashlight and 10mm socket.
New vs Old the **40 is the MTS unit (one on bottom) Tools you'll need. 10mm socket and trim kit and flash light. Possibly a beer. Take the floor board and side trims off Take off under vent and side trim Unscrew the side bolts one on the outside and two on near the center console. Be slow here and start from the door when removing the trim The 2017 airbag is smaller and easy to hold up with some detailing supplies The glove box covering at tricky they pull towards you and you'll need to use two tools to safely snap them out. The glove box bolts are hidden pulls these towards you. Location of The computer support switch Location of the computer control switch I didn't disconnected the battery just turned the car off. Upon successful install you should see this once you turn it on. Good luck. Part came from LexusPartsNow.com took about 10 days to get it.
so dumb question. you can add the multi-terrain / cc to any GX just by adding this unit? I have the base model (I am missing 2 of the 4 buttons in center console). Do I add the unit plus order the buttons?
thank you @Acrad. in my base model I have the two bottom buttons. for DAC and the 4L. To add the CC and MTS its really as simple as swapping out switches and the module? The vehicle will recognize this and work as if it came from factory this way?
on lexuspartsnow84970-60090 the picture shows the whole switch panel with the air suspension switches too but the description shows: Switch Assy, Combination
PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM-WITH(*MRT)
PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM-WITH(*MRT)&BACK MONITOR-WITH(WITH/GUIDE & AROUND MONITOR)
BACK MONITOR-WITH(WITH/GUIDE & AROUND MONITOR)
this is the panel that will keep the 4L but give the bottom left crawl control (up > down) and on/off button?
The pictures on parts sites are wrong. It is the accurate PN. An 090 is what you need.
Important: Don't provide a VIN as sometimes they will run it and send you the one that shows up as stock on your vehicle.
MTS as seen in this thread is plug and play. Crawl Control you have to do a Zero Point Calibration (ZPC). This can be done with a switched wire in the OBD port or via Techstream.
Here is a video doing ZPC with a switch wire method
Besides crawl control what does this system do exactly. Excuse my ignorance. Does it basically lock the differential and decide to select 4H or 4L automatically? Does it do anything you can't do manually?
A few thoughts...Mud Sand is only mode on 10-19 that works in both 4H/4L. The 4H option was removed on 2020 model. It allows for greater control of ATRAC and can brake the wheels in ways a human could not modulate. Throttle response is also altered.

Think of “CC” just as a low speed cruise control both in forward and reverse in low speed (4L setting only). MTS is active traction control.
I have been slowly reading through the sticky thread for this same topic too, seeing the effort involved. curious, do we choose the sand option for snow? I am more likely to drive in snow than sand.
