Well, to be fair, he also suggested that it was totally unnecessary, and that it was mostly for looks - esp if you were just going to drive on paved roads since all of those parts can get wet.
They serve a purpose, if they didn’t, Toyota wouldn’t add in the cost to the vehicle and merely improve their profit margin.
looks are a function(at least to most Lexus owners), road debris diverter, splash guard, airflow dynamics etc… none of these are safety critical functions but I’d still pony up the $60 from rad rubber or yota liners and call it a day, especially if you live in the rust belt or anywhere there is red clay
Just reporting what the dealership told me. It is 1) about $400 to have the 2 front ones replaced; and 2) they didn't suggest that I do it or worry about. Perhaps bc here in TX and there isn't salt and I am not going mudding or anything.
I might anyway - but not until after my trip (I don't really have time to do it now).

Just happened to notice when checking tires. Remember hearing thud on interstate recently. Remaining shard feels like plastic. Can anyone identify part name so I can call Lexus dealer for replacement? Or, is there a third party supplier?
