Default Rear View Mirror

I recently picked up a 2010 Base trim and I need some help identifying the parts of the rear view mirror (auto dimming).

The rearview mirror that's on there currently looks like this:

There's a connector (tucked away into the headliner) that doesn't appear to fit the currently installed rearview mirror:

Also, what is this other unit that's attached to the windshield?

My question is....do I have an OEM auto dimming rear view mirror? If so...is that connector tucked up in the headliner the connector for the auto dimming rear view mirror? Is there an adapter to make the connection fit? Or do i need to get a proper OEM auto dimming rear view mirror?

Thanks

What year GX do you have? 10-11 and '12+ mirrors changed because Homelink moved from the overhead console to the mirror. Other sensor is the rain sensor for wipers.

Sorry... I see you stated year now.

That looks like auto dimming mirror to me.

That unused connecter looks like the one for the automatic high beam mirror.

Makes me wonder if 10-11 are pre-wired for AHB. I guess I need to look again and see if I have that harness in my '12.

I popped my overhead console to check again and I definitely don't have that connector in mine.

tecman: Have you ever seen that connector that OP has up in headliner of your '11?

That connector and location look aftermarket to me.

It does have similarities to the actual plug that goes into the AHB mirror. Both 12 pin

What does the AHB do? And is there some kind of indication that the auto dimming feature is turned on?

Took a peek and no unused connector on mine.

Tecman: Thanks for checking!!

If a '10 owner ever gets a chance check it out. Maybe a one year only or maybe as cb1111 stated it is for something else.

AHB is the sensor for Automatic High Beams. Turns on high beam headlights and dims when needed to avoid blinding other drivers. Just sensor to BCM connection.

I'll have to check on status light... I think so but will need to look. My mirror is different design though with HomeLink on it.

If the OP can trace the wires for this connector and finds obvious aftermarket splices that would be a tell. Also any add a fuse in the 2 fuse boxes.

xf30ul: That console pulls down fairly easy from the front windshield side. I just use some standard plastic trim tools.

Thanks, I will take it apart this weekend and see where that connector leads. If it is the AHB wiring harness, would that also power the auto dimming rear view mirror? I can't see how my rear view mirror would work when there's no obvious power source to the mirror...unless it's battery powered...

I suspect that the previous owner replaced the windshield....and in the process, decided to have the rear view mirror replaced with a non-original rear view mirror. The reason why I think this is because the connector for the homelink version seems to be the same type of connector that's currently tucked away in the headliner: Example Rearview Mirror for Sale. Also, the little cover that hides the wiring harness....I found that floating around in the glove box.

Are there any base '10 owners with rear view mirrors from the factory without the homelink buttons?

Ok... I was under assumption existing mirror was plugged in. It does require power. IMO stock mirror would plug into that connector.. At least on my ‘12 and the spare AHB model there is a wired extension piece that goes from the mirror assembly to the vehicle wiring harness,

Yes, that changes things. I thought that was an extra plug tucked up there.
