Lightbulb OEM: Rear-Seat Entertainment System- (RSES) Questions & Discussion

I'm working on some audio upgrades and could use some help. Can anyone please tell me:

1) where, and which one of the many devices, is the rear seat entertainment ECU?

2) does anyone know where a to find, even purchase, wiring diagram for the gx460?

Thanks in advance, Zack

Thanks. I managed to find it using the parts lookup tool from a lexus site. It's under the passenger seat. I also got lexus to send me the electrical schematic for my entertainment system. It worked out well.

Hi Zack,

do you know the name of the website where you used the part lookup tool?

Default Rear screens video output Lexus GX 460

Long time lurker. I just put in DVD/nav override in wife's 2014 gx460. We can play dvds on the front screen. Is there a way to get a RCA video out line from the radio to play on the back system? I already have some screens / monitors in the back. My wife just wants to be able to control from front. If there is a plug and play I have everything ran, if not does someone have wiring diagram?

Did you ever figured out how to output video from the main NAVI screen to your rear monitors?
What brand is your Navi & DVD bypass module and your rear monitors?

I just picked up a 2014 Prem as well (with ML), but no RSES. I was wondering the same thing - is it possible to run an output from the head unit to aftermarket monitors? Interested to to know how you made out.....

Default RSES Discussion and Questions

My brother bought me an SNES Classic and I've been playing it non-stop. We are taking a road trip this weekend and I had an idea:

Let's see if I can hook it up to my rear seat entertainment system!

Ordered and will arrive Thursday 10/5:
-HDMI to RCA signal converter (snes classic console output is hdmi)
-RCA cables (to connect converter to gx460 input)
-dual 2.4 amp cigarette light adapter (to power both the converter and snes console)

Do you guys think it'll work? I am hoping to conceal both the converter and the console in the glove box (keep an eye on eat level). I'll keep you guys updated.

Which model year of GX that you got? I thought the factory RSES come with the HDMI input, if I am not mistaken.

2011

If that's the case, it might go much smoother than expected!

According the official Lexus manual, 2011 does not have the factory installed RSES. So if after market system does not offer HDMI, you pretty much have to go through the conversion route.

The 2011 did have a factory RSES option, there is no HDMI input that I know of though, just DVD and component inputs. The screens are part of the of driver and passenger seats, and not installed directly in the headrests (which likely means aftermarket)

Here's a photo of the SNES Classic running on the rear screens. You can't see it, but the picture on the driver side monitor is cut off at the bottom, compared to the passenger monitor. Anyone experienced this before?

I would also be interested in both of these topic if anyone had recent advice they could share. Both for the nav/dvd override and rear signal

i think GROM sells some stuff that can do this.
you can also tie into the line, maybe use a powered splitter if theres impedence issues. you will need to be comfortable ripping into cabling and reading wiring diagrams
nav/dvd override is possible with a few different methods. theres a thread somehwere on that.
