Acrad, thank you for posting the wiring diagrams on a different post, was able to splice in a chip that the tablet screen seller sent me (wrong harness)...fixed my airbag indicator light. Which for some reason fixed all my dash light issues, including the air suspension all zeroes.
Hey guys im in the market to purchase a GX460 2014+
i want to know what are the good and bad things about both suspensions between luxury and premium
do they feel different ? is more reliable then other? and anything else you must suggest i would love to hear your input.
thank you.
The rear air suspension would offer more comfort but not a huge amount. Also the ability to raise and lower as well as level under heavy loading like towing. Overall longevity would most likely not be as good as standard suspension. Although it is only the rear and is not known for poor reliability. So this is just an estimate of reliability. Airbags on Lexus vehicles are usually good for 150k+ miles. Often more than shocks and struts last but obviously more expensive to fix.
Check this website for the other differences. I believe in 2020 is the only year the base versions did not offer power folding mirrors
I have problem with rear suspension causes VERY bouncy ride
After I replaced the air bags with new pair
I face that problem
Every small bumps on the road makes rear suspension bouncy as hell
Has anyone had similar issues like this?
Thanks.
I assume your rear ride height is the same before / after air bag replacement ?
Air Springs are exactly that ... they are Springs ... with the Shocks providing damping control. Sounds like you do not have damping control. Assuming you have AVS Shocks, have you checked the electrical connector to each shock ... they may have been removed during air bag replacement. Should not cause these symptoms ... but ...
Does anyone know if the AVS Shocks "go stupid" (provide no damping) if the control connector is disconnected ? One would think the shock valving would mechanically maintain the last valve setting before being disconnected.
On my previous GX470, I had air bags failed once, it bounced like hell. Another symptom when it failed, the adjustment for the heights went extremely slow. When you flipped switch from normal to high, you see the blink lights but take forever to set (if ever reaches the set position. Same goes to lower).

Sounds like you had an air pump failure ... not an air-bag failure ... or possibly an air bag leak where the pump could not maintain bag pressure due to the air leak ?
