Undercoating for 2019 GX 460
Salty roads during Buffalo,N.Y. winters are a fact of life. I have it washed at a drive thru auto wash weekly and now considering spray undercoating the vehicle at a local shop. Is this a good idea or will the undercoating process clog the normal water draining passages on the GX body.and cause other rust issues. Any other North Eastern U.S GX owners have any comments whether undercoating is a good idea??

While I have never done this to my vehicles here in PNW... I think if there are cons they are easily outweighed by pros.
IIRC.. nuclearn8 just fluid filmed his 460

I have used this on previous cars to keep the wheel well looking new with age. I bought these cans shortly after buying my GX years ago and never used them. Not really needed for me with snow concerns though.

Oh yes I agree, what I posted is only for cosmetic fender well.

Took mine to Zeibart and for <$500, they did the entire car, including inside the doors, rocker panels, behind the wheel well covers, etc. Well worth it. No rust on a 2014 IS in very salty condition. Every year it goes back and for ~$35 it gets touched up. My previous car (Infiniti) was showing serious rust after 5 years. It can't hurt and the cons are actually minimal if done correctly. Get educated on drip vs dripless vs undercoating vs electronic method. Choose what is best for your vehicle.
here is agood article on the pros and cons: https://greengarageblog.org/14-vehic...-pros-and-cons
Or you can apply it yourself with Fluid Film:
Good luck and hope this helps.

I used Fluid Film on mine- cheap n easy. I hear good things about Woolwax.

Fluid film should last about a year as long as you don't powerwash the underside. The aerosol cans will be a bit thinner than the fluid you spray from a gun. WoolWax is essentially the same but a bit thicker and no smell.

Thanks. The HD Corrosion X doesn’t wash away in any area. Depending on how many miles I put on in crappy weather, I touch up the worn area about 4 months.
I know FF does make a thicker version also.

Fluid film it... use the aerosol cans with wand to do inside the frame rails and get a gallon to brush or wipe on everything else that doesnt get hot... recommend since you're in buffalo to also apply antiseize to all your skid plate bolts when removing and reattaching them, including the transfer case exhaust plate and kdss plate mounted to the frame rail on driver side outboard... dont forget to fluid film the kdss control actuator behind the protector plate ... if it corrodes and you ever need to replace the suspension in the future, you're screwed.
