I'm not certain the hole locations are exactly the same just looking at Weathertech mats as an example. Looking back in thread it sounds like holes don't line up well so it would seem options are to run without the retainers at all or pull up the carpet and retrofit with the '14+ setup on 10-13 models. No idea what kind of carpet cutting may be involved.
hole locations are not the same, it would just be for the 'ease' of place placing the mats down, instead of hooking one end in and then playing finding waldo with the other side...or just modernity.
toyota probably saw a reason to switch to the new version.
Were yalls ever actually able to attempt this?
Tempted to give it a go while on break from classes.
If new holes are needed I'm curious if leaving the metal grommets of the <14 hook style in would be noticeable with the floor mats (doubt it).
10-13 (PN): 0821000820
14+ Up (PN): 5869476010
14+ Low (PN): 5869876010
Having the option of using 14+ floor mats that have the full wrap around like the weathertechs would be amazing.

just get the weathertechs. i just bought the lexus oem all weather mats for 10-13 and i’m very disappointed. for the amount of money ($104), i expected a lot better. the mats are about 3mm thick and cover the same area as the carpet ones.
fingers crossed belle will take them back as they’ve been in the truck for three days.
I found the Husky WeatherBeaters front and rear for $145 and the Husky Cargo liner for $80 on Amazon. Going to give them a try as I've had Weathertechs in all my other vehicles in the past.
I have the Lexus front mats as shown below but nothing else. I want to get a second row liner and not just the two separate mats.
I see this style is Lexus OEM but looks more like the Weather tech mats- maybe they’re thinner? I like the thick rubber ones I have and don’t like the thin weather tech style. I have them in my Tundra and they slide around like crazy. However, my question is why do these specify as a 2017+ part? I have a 2014. Does this liner work for 2014? Also- when y’all discuss the Lexus OEM- which one? These mats are different but both OEM.
I have the mats shown below, got them with our GX, they work fantastic, we have the same mats (toyota version) in our 4Runner and they work fantastic in there as well. I like the rubbery feel over some of the aftermarket mats out there.

A really good option to weathertechs that are cheaper are the husky weather beaters... also made in the US. I have them in my GX and they are holding up really well to Canadian winters so far. The holes bolt up perfectly to the stock mounting points. With weathertech I noticed they changed their material in the past few years to be softer and more pliable. Feels cheaper.

nice- so you have the one piece second row. What year do you have? I’m assuming it works for 2014+ but the listing says 2017+

yeah we have the 1 piece in our 19 GX and it works great, if i had to guess these are 14+ i cant imagine they changed anything like the footwell between 14 and 19.

Same story here, the Lexus OEM all weather were a waste of time and money. I did some research and the Lexus OEM Liners (2nd gen) are an improvement, fronts have decent coverage and have the lip that extends beyond the carpet by the doors, they also may fit 1st gen GXs but the second row liner does not have the lip that goes beyond the carpet (see pics below). I live by the beach so I want to control sand, the only ones that are reputable and offer full coverage and have the lip are WeatherTech and Husky. I went ahead and got the Husky (black is the only color available), they have great reviews on the IH8MUD and have lifetime warranty. If one must have matching color (Tan, Brown, Grey) then WeatherTech is the only option. My Huskys will arrive tomorrow, so I will post pictures.
As promised here is a full set of Huskys installed in my GX. I must say they look very nice and look and feel sturdy. The fit is very precise, the lip goes beyond the carpet fully protecting it and most importantly it does not get pushed or anything when the door is closed. The front and middle row are thicker and more rubbery than the cargo liner. The cargo liner needed to "relax overnight. I chose the Husky one-piece cargo liner over the two-piece OEM because I did not want any chances of sand going through the gaps.
