On the backside (vehicle side) of the vertical post? That's a rotopax mount, and Mark includes it at no charge. No, I'm quite happy with this model. I had his "Knucklebone" previously, which was pivoted down away from the vehicle. The swingout, for me, is much easier for daily life.
