SCS 6 vs TRD Pro Wheels
Looking to pair one of these up with a 265/70R-17 BFG KO2 tire on a 2011 GX460. I want to use the OEM spare tire carrier. I've read that tire size will fit and the TRD wheels will fit (although that was a with a 255 width tire). Has anyone tried either of these in the spare location? Thanks.

I don't think the wheels has anything to do with fitment other than the size obviously. The bigger factor is the tires size that you decide to go with.

From my research a the TRD should fit with that tire size. It's a 7" wide wheel vs. the SCS which is 8.5" (I think?). Obviously the actual tire width is more of a factor but with the SCS you may have to air down the tire in order to fit.

TRD wheels look great ... but 7-inches wide is way too narrow in my opinion ... 7.5-inches is the minimum I would run on the GX460 ... with 8-inches being perfect for 265 tires. With 7-inch wheels, there is way too much sidewall bulge ... great for extra wheel protection when bouncing off of boulders, but for on-road handling ... the steering response will be somewhat vague in comparison to running the stock GX460 7.5-inch wheel width.
Going with an 8-inch wide wheel and bumping the wheel (offset) outboard to place the edge of the tire tread (or at least the sidewall) in vertical alignment with the edge of the fender flare gives the GX460 a more commanding and planted stance. IMHO ... inboard from this reference = "Soccer Mom Stance" ... Outboard from this reference = "Redneck Stance"
I had TRD wheels delivered on my FJ Cruiser ... loved the design but could not live with the anemic 7-inch width combined with the typical Toyota (way too) inboard offset.

Now that is a beautiful stance from a fitment standpoint ... looks planted and commanding without being "in your face". Wheel style aside (which look great) ... Lexus / Toyota should follow this stance versus the standard issue "soccer mom" wheel width (too narrow) and wheel offset (too inboard).
Additional information would be helpful for those considering ...

- Another picture showing where the edge of the tire places relative to the edge of the fenders.
- Tire Size
- Wheel Offset
- Wheel Hub Diameter
