Thanks guys for the replies.
@ hzhao: The lights are nice and I have seen them before but I am inclined towards the GX dark red lights that come on sports package or the Prado lights that are on 2020 Prado model (except I am not sure if they are a perfect fit for GX).
The clear lights that come on GX are nice but they only look good on Starfire Pearl exterior, im my humble opinion.

2020 gx headlamps on 2016 gx 460
Hey guys, I own a 2016 GX and intend to replace the headlamps with 2020. I'd like to know if they will fit properly and if they will work.
Hopefully, I could get good deals for the 2020 headlamps too

Physically will fit. But you will need new ECUs and wire harnesses. It is basically cost ineffective if you try to retrofit. The least costs will be more than $6,000+ assume that didn’t impact your GX other function. Based on diagram that I have seen, the 2020 light control is integrated in Body ECU, while prior years GX has separated light control ECU. Those are just the beginning. Realistically, it is just not a simple replacement and retrofit.

I got a quote from xportautoparts.com, they said it will fit in just as you said and that it will work with a change of plugs. Below are the items in the package. I guess the control module will make the difference but I'm trying to find out from other sources.. What do you think?

No one has gone that route to retrofit, nor I have heard anyone had tried to do so. No way that can be said if this quote or list is sufficient or not to get the job done. If the new headlights are so important to you, and you are willing to risk such long way to get it, my suggestion would be consider a trade in with your current GX for the 2020 GX, not only you get the OEM warranty, but also to gain list of safety feature such as Radar Cruise Control, auto high beam, LDA, are all standards features for 2020.

Normally, I'd say that a retrofit won't be legal, but AFAIK, Nigeria has very lax rules.
Additionally, I'm not sure if any of the advice we give here is helpful. Are the 2020 headlights a direct fit for whatever the OP has in Lagos? Is the GX sold in Nigeria? With what options? Is it a gray market import? From which country?

i wouldnt do it. just buy'lease a new one.
new wire harness and ecu module will make it difficult.
you could even start a fire with these leds if not wired correctly.
personally i dont see much a difference in function. looks sure.

@greek74 you likely don't are since it's already done but if someone rear ends you, You' will likely be at fault instead of the person who rear ends you, which is usually the case...
