You must not have kids if you don’t care about USB ports LOL!

Sadly, as dated as the GX is, when we were looking for a solid mid sized SUV, it was still at the top of the list. Seems like this class of SUVs has few good choices these days. Im hoping that when we turn in our lease in 2+ years they will finally have redesigned the GX into a more modern version of itself.

Exactly, right now the GX in its current form is a lease at best or a very good used purchase. New money purchase (from a point of value not emotional) is kinda of a hard sell. Too few options. The redesign if there is one, would be a beast and solve most issues have

USB ports as the decision making tipping point on an entire vehicle ? ... when they can be easily added by a professional installer exactly where you (or your kids) want them !

If USB ports makes or breaks your buying decision, go down the road and buy a minivan. With your kids, it is likely more suited for your needs... But everyone wants a tough suv. Then on the same breath complains that it doesn't have enough USB ports?

I have one child. And his desire for a USB port doesn't even enter the realm of my decision making on what vehicle I buy.

Just leased (2 months ago) a new 2019 GX460 with Captains Chairs 2nd row with MSRP of $60,000. Total lease cost including first license/registration and fees (CA) and all sales tax for total 36 months and 15k miles/yr. is $18,000. Do that every 3 years and you get a new car and no repairs or tires. Can't beat the GX at this cost.

See, you're still stuck in the "Hyundai/Kia is crap" from the 80's, but the truth is that the quality is certainly up to the best of the industry. Look at reviews - especially the long term ones and hang out in the forums.

The advantage of that mindset is that used ones are bargain basement cheap.

My kids just bring charging bricks if they think their electronic device might die during a trip. USB ports would be nice but it is what it is. I also daily drive my GX460 and put 20,000 miles on it last year. I can confirm MPG is pretty poor but I knew this going in. No regrets at all....

Quality / Reliability ... yes, most car makers do a pretty good job these days. Toyota however is not only consistently top rated, but consistently in the Top-3 / Top-10. Another probably more important factor that is only evident in forum discussions is how manufacturers handle (major) design flaws. Toyota continues to be top-shelf from an integrity standpoint, dealing with issues without class action lawsuits. Honda as a recent example has *****d out their past ... what seemed eternal reputation for reliability with how they have handled the recent 1.5L Tubo debacle. They should be punished for eternity with how they have treated their loyal customers with how they have handled this widespread issue.

When $20k rental cars have more/better accessible USB points than a $60k Lexus touting three rows of seating, yeah, I think they could’ve done better. Hence why they put a USB port in the back of the 2020 model - I’m guessing that decision wasn’t based solely on my disappointment...Heck, If they would’ve even put one in the center front console that would’ve been reasonable.

And the power outlet in the far back of the truck is hilarious - it’s so low profile that you can’t even plug a standard iPhone plug into it! Come on Lexus engineers...

Glad you’re satisfied - I think Lexus engineers could’ve easliy done better on some of these simple items.

LOL I cant help but feel like you would probably complain about everything kind of buyers. I see this on Acurazine too. Like how people complain the TLX has less tech than the Accord

My 2019 GX has 2 usb ports and a DC charger. That more than enough. I have long USB cables for long trip. Hell, if the ipad runs out of battery, I tell my kids to take a break, rest their eyes and talk to us just about anything. I actually intentionally keep the ipad out of battery. Thats the idea of road trips isnt it? Time for family reconnection.
