2014-2015 & 2018-2019 Fuel Pump Recall
#136
This is the absurd part. Why didn't Toyota make the access panel big enough under the carpet so that dropping the tank is not needed?
I am going through this now with my 2006 GX, but I am not dropping the tank to do a FP swap.

The recall kit is supposed to call for these 4 parts to be replaced.

That's a lot of Toyota vehicles in that service campaign.
The cruddy part of all this, is that they need to drop the gas tank, hence need to muck around with hoses & clamps, AND, need to go in under the rear carpet just to get the lines and pump connector off! If they would only learn that making the darn access panel under the carpet big enough..... Maybe they think shops will get gasoline all over the interior and cust complain about smell? Very possible from my own work doing it all from inside my GX. But a little prep work to catch any spill is ez to do.
Did Takata build those pumps? , or are the Denso units, and if so where where they made (Japan or China)?

The pump should be at the bottom of the basket, as seen in post #138.
... and tank drop is needed, see the service PDF https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...l#post10468988

got my car scheduled for tomorrow. Each time I called Lexus, they keep saying my issue is not the same as the recall. I even told them my car stalled and could not restart. What is the real symptom for this recall? Anyone experience it?

Here is FSM info on that fuel pump circuit error.

Thanks again Acrad. This is very informative. I do think my issue is related to fuel pump intermittently going out. I did get a code for knock sensor as if I was running lean. I forgot which code it was. However, since I cleared the codes, I have not seen any more codes. I am dropping off the car tomorrow to the dealer. I do not think they will find anything. I am hoping that once they replaced the pump, I wont see this problem again, especially while traveling out of town.
