Not what I expected:

A young lady ran a red light...the GX dash cam clearly shows the green well before the impact.

HIGHLY recommend dash cams!

Anyone have a favorite body shop in the Denver Metro?

Glad to hear you are alright!!! Sorry to hear this happened to you. Make sure you tell shop you want OEM parts.

My insurance company (Nationwide) reminded me that I had purchased the OEM replacement rider on my policy and that the other carrier (State Farm) would not pay for OEM without a big fight. They suggested that I let them fix it (at the shop of my choice) and then let them collect from State Farm.

My thinking is that I'll have to wait until it's pretty well fixed (eliminating any hidden damage) to know the final total and to seek diminished value.

Ouch. Was everybody OK? Did you end up t-boning the other car? Doesn't look like an airbag deployment.

Damn, that sucks.

Had a good experience with SVE Autobody several years ago with the wife's Subaru. http://www.sveautobody.com/

No airbag deployment. The Corolla simply sheared off the entire plastic section of the front end. There is a one inch gap between the hood and the right fender at the top, so things got moved from their original position.

After the cops helped pull off the broken bits the wife was able to drive it home. Best cop quote: "You don't need your headlights in the daytime. You're just driving a crappy looking car."

First of all, glad everyone is OK. Everything else is replaceable!

That was surprise that cop would allow your wife to drive the car in such condition all way to home! Depends on how much of hidden damages might have had, especially with airbag sensors, it is actually illegal for street driving without an inspected and proper operated airbag for the minimal. Even proper lights are required regardless the day or night if I am not mistake. Anyway, glad everyone is home safe!

Isn't that the normal state of affairs driving the new "facelifted" Lexus?

Correct - but - the LEO may have felt it would be less stressful (ergo safer) to have the driver go home than to stay and wait for a tow.

Of course the LEO would have been in a bit of trouble had there been an accident or an airbag activation.

OTOH - I've seen far worse driving the streets in Colorado...

Glad everyone is ok. It's just a vehicle and sounds like it'll get fixed right and to your liking. let us know how it turns out.

Waiting on the tow truck now to take it to Kuni Lexus Body Shop.

I'm going to try to suggest that they put a 2020 grille in - hoping it's as easy with the factory parts as the knockoffs appear to be.

I'll even give them a 2020 VIN to order from.
