Default Anyone with 255/75/17

I'm planning to get Enkei's 17X8.5 et20, but not sure how 255/75/17 would look like on the GX460, my GX comes with a 2-inch lift from TJM and the standard 265/70/17 doesn't seem to fill the extra space well.

Any thoughts and maybe photos?

Those tires are likely too narrow for the wheels. Each tire has a wheel width range in the specs for best performance of the tire.

255s are recommended for wheels width of 6.5 - 8.5 inches

so do it then... sounds like it's a personal preference... how do the proposed wheels compare to your current wheels ? are you concerned about fitment or look?

I've seen some youtube videos that someone swapped to 255/70/17 tires and liked them a lot. the spare also able to fit in the spare tire well. They are only slightly narrower than stock tires but with 10% more sidewall. 255/75/17 most likely won't fit into the spare tire well.
