Another one to look at is the Stowaway2 www.stowaway2.com. We have the fixed version. It sits high enough to avoid the heat issue. The sell a heat shield you can use if this is a problem with a swing-away. We've been happy with it. Easy to mount with two people, stable with their hitch tightener, and dry.

The Hitchswing is tightened up in the receiver with a mechanism that you have to use a torque wrench on and it is so solid you think it is part of the vehicle.. Looks like Kuat just goes in receiver.

Don't get me wrong...this is definitely a good option though.

I didn't check warranty on Kuat but Wilco is lifetime limited assuming they haven't been abused.
I have a Wilco Offset Tire gate and I agree that the wedge lock in the receiver is well worth the price. My tire mount is rock solid with no rattles.

Default Rooftop Cargo

Any recommendations for a rooftop cargo bag? Doing a long road trip and will need waterproof storage mounted on a Prinsu rack. Prefer a "soft" container rather than the plastic "Thule/Yakima" carrier. Lots of them advertise as being waterproof, but many times reviewers report otherwise. What's your opinion?

Not sure if you're planning to use it for many years but there are some cheap ones on eBay that listed as Waterproof. My BIL used a X-Cargo Sears soft bag for years on his Pilot without issues. But he didn't run into alot of rains and most of the trips are during summer/fall.
Since you have a rack I would think it is easier to cover the bag with tarp and bungee cords if you encounter some really bad weather.

WeatherTech makes a nice looking one. Weather resistant. I’ve used WeatherTech products for years. They’re really well made. It’s an option.

Great review! Oh, the wit! It figures. I searched on rooftop cargo and didn't find your review, however you did yeoman's service with that one. Thanks for the effort. I have that bag at the top of my list, as of right now.

Most welcome. Roofbag, at the time, placed that as a link on the homepage. Honestly the best option to the hard cover cargo hauler (where do I store it? issues) And the duffel bags have come in handy for camping.

REVIEW
That was a great review. And, for the cost it’s a win win. Pretty sure I’ll be adding cross beams to the GX here in the future. I think one of these would be great for either of our cars. Thanks for posting the review!

Default Another idea

I used the soft rooftop carriers fo a long time and although they work great and easy to store I got tired of loading heavy suitcases so high up. I went with a trailer hitch carrier and a similar soft sided water proof bag and love it. I got the kind that can tip up so I leave it attached when on vacation and access the rear storage they the window. . Also let’s me carry other bulky items from time to time. Of course you have to find a place to store the carrier- I hang mine on the wall in the garage easy enough. Just another thought if it helps...

Randy B, thanks, this seems to be the best option out there for my needs.

Question Cargo Carrier

I have a '17 GX and am trying to figure out the best hitch cargo carrier option. We are a family of 5 and we used to have a Yukon XL Denali so we are used to taking everything but the kitchen sink with us on road trips. I saw some threads where the overhead carriers were either a chore to access, tended to scratch the top, or had noticeable wind noise so I'm going with one of the hitch options. However, I want to make sure that whatever I get works with the tailgate. Any suggestions? Trip is Sunday!
