Bummer... Is the front wheel barely hanging on in the pic? I wouldn't think it is totaled.

That’s unfortunate, I hope you and whoever was riding with you are okay. As far as it being totaled it’s really up to your adjuster. If the total amount is greater than the value of the car, yes they will total it. I had a LS460L that was worth 21k and had 18k worth of damage and they did not total it.

Ouch. I hope everyone was OK. It may be a total depending on the year. Given the visible damage (broken suspension and the visible body/light damage), I'd say $15k and likely more.

As long as you and your family are ok, everything else can be replaced.

glad everyone is ok... from the looks of it there is at least 15k in damage there, that's assuming there are no major frame or driveline issues with the differential and cv axle getting ripped out or pushed in. I'll be curious to hear what the total comes to when it's all said and done

honestly, i'd push for that to be total. gotta be some frame damage, in there. if they won't total, make sure to push for depreciation hit.

Given the sole photo of the damage, I'd suspect it was a single car accident. You can't claim depreciation from your own insurance company.

We let a friend borrow the car for a couple of hours and they fell asleep behind the wheel at turnpike speeds. the police said the car had reached speed of upto 115mph before crashing due to drivers foot still on accel. It's a 2018 and low miles 30k. The drove shaft and everything connected to wheel is broken

I hope your friend is OK. Looking at the pictures again, it looks as if there was an airbag deployment as well. With parts and labor I suspect that the repairs will exceed $25k. I hope the insurance company doesn't give you a hard time.
On a related note, if your friend has insurance, then you can claim against their insurance - otherwise your rates will go up.

Please keep us posted.

Your friend should absolutely use their insurance for this.

115 MPH on impact... Wow, what did the truck hit?

Sorry to hear that. But as many had said, the important part is the driver and riders were OK. Since it was driven by your friend, he should have the insurance and I will certain pushing for "total it" given the amount of damages resulted from accident. If necessary, you need get some independent evaluations other than from insurance along. Good luck with everything and keep us posed with results.

On a positive note, with 115 mph speed on frontal collision as it is, it just proves again how well and safer to be in GX when you are carrying most precious cargos --- every passengers!

Airbags were not deployed. I also have full coverage on the car, but I honestly hope the car can just be fixed. I don't want to go threw the total process. I really loved this car. I spent a lot of labor hours on this car. I installed a dashcam, and it shows the whole scene of the driver falling asleep, so that's why I won't take action against the driver and one of the reasons I have the full coverage for unfortunate events like this. Honestly, the car is very strong considering its weight and shape.

Very kind of you but the driver is at fault here and now you are inconvenienced with repairs and deprecation along with possible insurance increase.

I'm actually extra impressed and surprised at the lack of damage at 115 MPH and driver walked away... (may be a little GPS error as IIRC speed limiter is ~110 MPH)
