You guys are not worried about these light not being DOT legal?

Around here, we have drivers who install LED headlight bulbs in halogen lenses. Lots of glare and blinding to oncoming traffic, makes other road users flash their lights at us or we get high-beamed just as they pass us because thy think we are one of the illegal-LED bulb installers.
OTOH, the stock tail lights already look like illegal (non-DOT/SAE) Altezza tail lights. Has anyone been stopped for, or been asked about the standard tail lights being OEM or aftermarket by the police?

I’ve been having custom HID aftermarket projector beams built for my last 4 cars. Can’t put LED into a projector designed for halogen but you can have custom ones built for the OEM housing and those are stellar.

On the subject of headlights, improper aim is a safety hazard and will likely be stopped by LEO in most of cases. Again, not so much of light pattern whether it comply to DOT standard as it is hard to judging by naked eyes, but improper aiming will get you in trouble especially if it resulted any accident.

it’s safe to say that 99% of the people out there police included wouldn’t look twice at those tail lights. We know the GX’s inside and out but no one else will notice that there upgraded. If they were tinted limo black then yes they might notice but in stock red no one will care or notice.

Why modify something safety related? Suppose you are rear ended and god forbid you end up in court. In this day and age with all your dumb *** and politically motivated “peers” in the jury box why risk it just for looks and vanity?

I’ve worked a lot of fatal crashes in my time and really think that it would be a huge, huuuuuge stretch for the bulb type or light type to be proximate cause for a contributory negligence action in a rear-end crash where one is rear-ended. The ‘what if’ game is sometimes with merit but, in this case, I do not think it merits concern. The only time I’ve ever seen lighting come into play is if they were not on and that resulted in a crash, not if they were on and they were not OEM as long as they were functional.

@Piney1 @hzhao What did you use to attach the filler trim piece? I have tried 3M tape and Gorilla Heavy tape and it won't stay stuck to the front part of the tail light closest to the quarter panel. I did put Gorilla tape on the bottom of the trim and stuck to the bumper like you mentioned. Seems much more secure now. I just hate how the trim keeps coming off the front part of the tail light.
