I picked up the car with roughly 50,000 miles on it. I thought I would share my experience with maintenance and mods I have done over the years. I just hit 150,000 miles on the vehicle and its primarily been my daily driver with a good amount of those miles being highway driving. I do also tow a trailer behind it occasionally, and I most recently took it on a light overlanding trip.
I am a bit OCD when it comes to maintenance and I prefer to change things well before their expected lifetime. Perhaps this is why I have been so lucky with my GX. I have had almost 0 problems with it and it has never left me stranded.
I do oil changes every 5000 miles, and all fluids every 50000 miles, differentials, brake fluid, coolant, powersteering, transmission etc.
Mods:
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Tires - I love these things! They look awesome, provide great traction in snow, mud, and while they make more noise then the OEM's it's barely noticeable
Valentine 1 rear view mirror install
Harmounted Recovery points - I put these on before my overland trip, if I did get stuck I didn't want to have to worry about damaging the bumper getting pulled out.

Battery jump pack hardwired charger into the car and maintained in the rear door storage pocket
Lexus navigation override so you can put in destinations while driving
Brake Controller
Added OEM trailer Hitch
Weathertech floor mats
K&N Air filter
Aftermarket Transmission Cooler
Bud Built Full rock armor Skid plate system
Maintenace/Issues:
When I purchased it around 50000 miles I did the following:
Spark plugs - This is when I discovered the oil issue with the gaskets:

Front/Rear/Transfer case fluid change, cabin and air filter
Bleed the brakes and change the fluid
75000 miles
- I had the SAIS system fail which was covered by Lexus warranty
- New pads and rotors all the way around, I went with HAWK pads and stoptech rotors the pads definetely helped with the way the brakes hold at a stop light. They have more bite to them than OEM pads.
- Change the coolant
- Lubricate Driveshafts
100,000 miles
- Front/Rear diffs and transfer case fluid change
- Transmission drain/fill 4 times
- The rear door latch started to stick, I sprayed some WD40 around the handle and it loosened up
- Lubricate Driveshafts
- I had a piece of trim around the exterior of the windshield fall off that I had to replace
- I had a fault code from the air suspension which was my fault. I was hooking up a trailer and left it on, and it overinflated the airbags. I just reset the code and everything was good still
- The threads for the bolts that hold up the front skid plate were all stripped/rusted out. I drilled and tapped all of them to 1 size larger bolts
140,000 miles
- I had some transmission error codes pup up and initially was really concerned. When I put the shift lever in D the dash was not indicating that the transmission was in D, it showed nothing. The codes popped up right after I had to jump start the vehicle from a dead battery. I thought this couldnt be a coincedence and changed the battery. I've cleared the codes and had 10,000 miles + without them coming back up. I believe the bad battery wasn't putting out enough voltage for an ecm.
150,000 miles
- I noticed some uneven wear on the pads that I was changing so I replaced all 4 calipers at the same time as pads and rotors
- OEM skid plates had all but rusted through so I upgrade to a set from Bud Built
- Transmission cooler install
- Front/Rear/Transfer case fluid change
- Coolant change
- Power Steering fluid change
- New drive/serpentie belt, the original one amazingly still looked like it was in decent shape!
- Transmission drain/fill 4 times
- New tires and alignment around 130,000 miles
- Spark plugs, they had oil the wells again so I will be doing a valve cover gasket job in the near future

I’m curious to see your battery pack setup and which nav mod did you do?
