Default Considering purchase of new GX - A few questions

Hi guys. I'm considering the purchase of a new GX 460 for my wife any time between tomorrow and end of year. We are replacing a Land Rover LR4 which we absolutely loved except for the endless repairs. After reading the forums, I have a few questions.
  • Is the body lean that was sometimes attributed to a weak front coil and by others by KDSS suspension flaw still an issue?
  • Do the 2018-19 models still have an issue with the air injection?
  • I would like all safety features that are available as well as the Mark Levinson stereo. Does this require the Luxury model?
  • We looking for low maintenance in upkeep (appearance) as well. The only low maintenance item on our Land Rover was the color (Ipanema Sand) which did not require frequent washing. Which colors offered for the GX have you found to not show road spray and dust?
  • Is it still possible to get $10-15K off the sticker price for a Luxury model? Is Lexus cash likely to go away from October 31?
Thanks for your help.

From my own experiences:
- I have not experienced any or noticeable body lean issue as some of the members does. It was contributed by KDSS if I understood correctly from what I have read. Have not head much lately.
- Secondary Air Injection issue does not appear as an issue from 2014+ model years
- In order to get Driver Support Package, which consists of Radar Cruise, PCA, LDA, Driver Attention Monitor, Auto High Beam, Front & Wide view Cameras (Left side only for US), Crawl Control (No MTS for US), you have to have Luxury model, and it is a special order.
- Personally, Dark Gray in my opinion hides most of dirt.
- As far as the promotion goes, it will depends a lot on specific model year, option availabilities, and timing. You can always ask.

The body lean issue still exists in 2018. My 2018 with 2,000 miles exhibits the lean and I confirmed it by measuring with a tape measure. I'm annoyed and irritated by it. My GX steering wheel seems to be off-center. Plan on getting it corrected at the 5,000 service. My advice is to test drive the actual vehicle you are purchasing and see if it's crooked, maybe get it fixed before taking delivery.

They are nice but I don't think I want another one. Like to mix it up.

I really prefer them but wife wants bench as our golden retriever lays on it over a cover. Would be a bit of a pain with the captain chairs on our frequent trips to the in-laws.

I"m not sure what a new F150 has to do with the original post, but I've already got one of those. We also have a 2016 BMW X5M and a 2017 Grand Cherokee Summit. Planning to get rid of of the BMW and Land Rover. Looking for a plush ride in an extremely capable vehicle. Any other suggestions beside the GX?

Maybe checkout the GX's big brother, LX. The interior of the GX is very dated and the rear door swings open instead of the typical SUV opening.

What kind of capability are you looking for? Unless lifted, it lacks (vs competition) ground clearance or approach/departure angle. Your GC has better capability. It’s reliable, solid, smooth and comfortable though.

Aim for 20% off. But knowing how to work the dealerships against each other is key.

what you think for 2019? New 2018 price drop because of the 5K Cash but very limited options and colors now. Sighhh

Lexus has increased the cash to $5K + $500 for loyalty on all 2018 GXs... these are great savings but in SoCal the 2018 inventory is very low.

Default Manheim, L/Certified or Non-Lexus Dealer?

Greetings CL members! Long time user and a first time poster.

I am in the market for a used GX. I have a "dealer friend" who can get me a GX at MMR + his fees ($1000 + $ 500 delivery). I am pondering should I get L/certified instead or from a non Lexus dealer. I am also considering Carvana and Carmax.

Manheim
pros: huge discount, wholesale price
Cons: cant look and feel, and no test drive prior to purchase

L/certified
Pros: L/certified and peace of mind
Cons: $5000-6000 higher than Manheim

Others
Pros: look in person and test drive (inspect) before buying
Cons: $3000-4000 higher than Manheim

After test driving X5, Q7 and LR4, I am considering GX for its offroad capabilities, comfort and reliability. I know you cant go wrong with info on Carfax and service history on Lexus, and remaining factory warranty.

I am after a 15-16 luxury starfire pearl on sepia with Driver Support Package..

Any thoughts on Manheim vs dealer?

Manheim is probably your best bet. Least markup, and whatever money you save, even if it the vehicle has some scars, you`d be in a good position.

L/Certified and Used means nothing different in some aspects. Disclaimer, huge cynic of the CPO process.

Both vehicles are used vehicles, so you should still be doing your own indy PPI on both vehicles. The premium on a CPO just gives you a limited warranty upgrade if thats something you need on the GX (trend wise, you probably dont, but you never know and neither would any of us).

I mentioned this to someone else who had a similar question, and I think it stands true for High residuals value vehicles like the LX and GX.

Value/$:
Manheim>New Vehicle is discount is huge>2nd hand market.
