GX seems to turn more lights on than just CEL when there is a OBD code. AIP issue has similar behavior.
Get it out on flat terrain and 70 MPH and you should be able to hit 20 MPG.
I really can't speculate why it showed up after visit. I wouldn't immediately think CAT though. Document I attached above is out of the GX 460 factory service manual.

A simple onboard code reader would be nice from the factory that shows at least codes on the infotainment or center display. This would at least give the owner the ability to look up the code online without the need to go to a parts store to pull the codes. I know, too much to ask for on the 460 ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Not sure what other Lexus models offer with onboard diagnostics?

If vehicle doesn't support showing codes natively ... these cheap $13 units are good to pick up and just throw under the seat.

It won't do advanced troubleshooting but engine/transmission/drivability issues are usually covered

Hard to tell if it's a good deal without knowing the price. We bought a 17 luxury a year ago that was loaded for 50k...
the lean issue had a tsb so it should be covered, if its affected by the criteria outlined in the tsb.

I edited my post. That model in the original post was already sold. I found something else that caught my eye, not sure if it's a good deal or not, though.

Sounds like an average deal... could likely do better but if you love the color combo, go for it...
I always check if a used causes a good deal by looking on kbb for trade in value...
99% dealers try to take trades in at kbb value abs resale at nada cause it's to their benefit... most used cars have 4-6k in markup

Hi All-
I am looking to replace my 2019 vw atlas ( for many reasons) and purchase a lexus suv. My wife wants something midsize and the GX is #1 on her list. I have found some really nice deals on low mileage(under 40k) 2017 models, like in the $35k range.
A few questions:
1) is the third row actually usable? we have 4 children and 2 under 12 that would sit back there.
2) Are there any particular years to steer clear from?
3) are the packages above the base worth the extra spend ?
4) what have you seen paid for a 2-3 year old model? these are a dime a dozen which is nice but all seem to be priced about the same here in the Charlotte area.
thank you

Hello,
1. Yes it's usable for anyone under 5ft 5". The headroom is actually pretty good compare to other crossovers. Leg room is okay. However, if you have car seats for 2 other kids, getting in/out might be a problem. Booster seats should be perfect. Also when the 3rd row seats are used, there aren't much space for luggages.
2. Probably not. They are all solid. MMC happened in 2014, and then recently in 2020. Just pick whichever you like.
3. I went with a 2019 Premium over base because it has the 3rd row AC vents along with other things. That was the main reason for us. I also learn that some base models are equipped with 3rd row AC vents. If that's important to you, make sure to check it out.
4. In our area, 2-3 year old used Premium models with low mileage (under 30k) are priced at 40K. With Lexus CPO, its close to $44-45K. So we went with new. The difference was about 3-4K with all the incentives last year. I am not sure what kind of incentives they are running now but my guess is they should not be too far off, if not more.
Good luck on your purchase!

Id really like a 2020 in dark grey with red leather but I want to keep my spend under $40k. Gonna have to work it since this atlas has lost tremendous value in 12 months.

great insight thank you. I am going to go test drive one tonight and will check it out. Thanks for the heads up on the third row vents. That’s actually a complaint my kids have with the atlas.

lol so true. The tech is just flat out embarrassing. Pretty much the same tech that’s in my 2015 tundra. But I’ll take reliability and high quality over tech and high cost of ownership. Most of it I find useless anyhow. Except I do like CarPlay.
One other question though, what does MMC mean?
