A half hour later he walks up to the used car guy, hands him (almost always a he) the form and says "all done".
How did you know? That's exactly the procedure!

One more time...

CPO or not, suckers are those who take the dealer at its word. Duh.

I'm in favor of a double-check at an independent shop...a shop that's not involved in the deal. Drop another $100 or so and avoid surprises later.

PO may have been shaky with body work as he knew he was dumping the car and didn't need a spooky Carfax, or Lexus service records. Speaking of which, did you get a copy of the service records from the dealer or Lexus.com's owners website? If not, IMO that' homework. Other than the so called "161 point inspection", did you do a pre-purchase inspection with a shop not a part to the sale? If not, a post-purchase agreement is homework...find a good indy shop and go there.

I have no idea of your state's bring-back policy.

Good luck.
I didn't say to return the car. I said to bring it in to fix those issues. This is between the OP and Lexus (Lexus dealers). What state policy are you talking about?

The Lexus in question is a CPO. Lexus CPO has a pretty good reputation of making people happy. The OP just bought the car, if he calls up the salesman and bring it back with a list of issues. They will at least make him happy so we will confidently give them the perfect survey score they want. The CPO = "inspection" and a warranty. Use the warranty.

I'd just tell them "I was too excited to check every single thing on the GX at delivery. I'd think a Lexus CPO should be close to perfect so I trusted that. Can you please look at these issues and fix them?" I am pretty sure that they will do. Just ask them nicely, don't make a scene. It's a newly bought car.

If they refuse, you'd have 2 choice:
1. Bring it to another Lexus dealer. The other Lexus dealer would love to win you over if they can make you happy. Trust me.

2. Call Lexus.

I doubt you'd need to go this far though.

Lightbulb Used Purchase - CPO / Dealers / Private Party

Let's see how this works by keeping pre/post purchase deals of "used" 460s in this thread.

is the intent of this thread for people to list what they paid for used GX's?

I am thinking what someone paid or "what is the better deal" between various used 460s being shopped.

EDIT: If this ends up being a bad idea I will unstick and let thread age out.

Nice idea, the 200s have a "most recent 200 price paid" on Mud.. So nice to see a similar concept here.

2012, Silver - Premium

Listed: 23,999 + fees/taxes 26,XXX
Mileage at purchase: < 73,XXX
Previous owners: 2, first owner had it from new until the middle of 2019, then someone had it for under four months
Accidents: No/Clean Carfax
Condition: Fair condition, this was a bit of an emotional/frustrated purchase, I didnt take my time to look over the vehicle and missed some questionable areas. right now i just want to pay it off and find one from the south...feel as though I paid a little more than its worth.

Default Looking for a Slightly Used GX

Hey Folks! I'm looking for a 2017-2018 GX with <45K miles. Most of my early shopping/research has been online due to COVID.

I am wondering about opinions regarding cars from the Rust Belt? I am in GA and obviously no salt/snow here but curious if 2-3 winters in the northeast would be enough to make people not buy? Obviously I will look in person at truck before purchase and climb underneath to visualize, but I was interested to see if 3 years would have a huge impact.

Thoughts??

Winter in northeast does create harsh conditions for cars, however, with proper care and maintenance, it will not be an issue. I had GX 470 for over 12 years before switched to my current GX 460 in 2014, both have been in many nests winters and no rust issues.

Ih8muds got a good classified section with folks who are extra nitpicky and uber knowledgeable about specific rust prone areas

Usually a good southern or cali car are great buys. I`d skip Florida cars. Northeast or northern cars if they werent really rustproofed or such will have surface rust at the good end, to straight up rot.

Either way, before you purchase get it on a lift, or if your communicating from a distance, ask the seller for underbody pictures.
