Congrats on the GX. I too drive a '15 GS Fsport and the wife drives a '17 GX premium. It is a great combo and makes me smile every time I go to the garage!

Wife turns in her Pilot lease on Monday. Just put down a deposit on a CPO 17 GX Luxury with 35k miles. $34,500 before TTL. It was one of the best CPO deals on a GX across the country as far as I could tell. I am beyond thrilled to get back in an apocalypse wagon. My last Lexus was my 01 LX470 and I loved that car so much.

Question 2014 vs 2015 vs 2016 GX460 (Thoughts on GX460?)

Hello. I'm thinking about getting a Lexus GX460.
Either 2014 / 2015 / 2016

Prices (tax already included)
2014 (Black mica exterior / Brown sepia interior)
80,500 kms / 50,000 miles
$39,500 CAD / $28,213 USD

2015 (Black mica exterior / Black interior)
73,500 kms / 45,670 miles
$42,000 CAD / $30,000 USD

2016 (Silver / Black interior)
62,981 kms / 39,135 miles
$44,625 CAD / $31,874 USD

I haven't been able to find the differences. Is there any significant difference between 2014 - 2016?
And if there are differences, what are they?
I only read in one of the forums between the 2015 and 2016 there is some software differences like iphone app connection and such?

I'm going to be using this as a daily driver, and I'm probably going to put huge truck tires and black out the chrome accents unless i get the 2016 one.
I'm pretty much going to be turning it into my personal bat mobile.

Do you guys recommend this as a daily driver through thick and thin? Any common problems or things you guys didn't like about the vehicle?

Conditions I'll using the vehicle:
Snow, mud, rain and driving to the mountains for skiing.

They are basically the same with minor trim level option changes. For Canadian version, not sure what options are included or rearranged. But basically, no significant changes.

Isn't the navigation difference between 2014 and 2015+?

If it's me I'll buy the 2016. For me a year newer is worth $2000 - $3000 more.

'15 I just see this added for infotainment - Infotainment app: Slacker

The Enform update that allows for built in remote start happened in 2016

My rig is a daily driver. It's an 18. not much different between a 16 and an 18. Paid 40k for it with 8k miles. has big truck tires and eats gas like candy. will be re-gearing it soon. so to answer your question: I highly recommend!

Wow.. There is literally no difference. I'll never use that infotainment app.

Yeah, only an infotainment difference. Slacker radio app. Never going to use it.

I agree, but if i am to make my vehicle to be like a batmobile, i think silver isn't my favorite color. Although black shows scratches, they're going to be power polishing the car for me. Still considering the silver though at lower kms.

How do you feel about gas mileage, is it really low? I'm moving out of a Mercedes E63 AMG with 520 horsepower RWD so I'm not really buying a luxurious large SUV to save on gas but it's definitely a plus if i save gas more than my E63.

What do you mean you're going to be re-gearing it?

It's either GX460 or LS460 right now. I'm going to put mud truck tires on either one.

Just picked up a 2019 CPO GX460 from out of state and drove almost 10 hours straight or 700 miles back home yesterday. Avg 75-80MPH, 40% hilly highway, I got 18.8MPG.
I also has a 2011 LS460L. On a good day, I can get 26MPG on highway. On a heavy footed day, I get 23MPG on highway.

Oh, so the gas mileage is about the same. Honestly on my E63, i get like 10 - 13mpg. I drive that thing like batman, barely anyone on the road has capability to overtake me especially in traffic or light traffic.

Then I hate to give you the bad news. You will not like GX460 based on how you drive your E63. You will miss the E63 power greatly. GX is a heavy beast. it has good power but not "GREAT" power. Great truck to cruise on the highway with it. It is super smooth, quiet and stable. I just used the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control in most of the 700 miles. Time to time when I need to pass, GX performed beautifully. However, it is defintiely not a sport car acceleration. It is a truck. (a very nice truck)

I'll miss it, but i'll remember that RWD during the winter is the worst feeling ever. Need an all big AWD vehicle. LS460 AWD or GX460. I want to get rid of my E63.

520 hp is and has been downright dangerous and if anyone has teenagers, don't let them drive that powerful muscle sports car until they've launched the vehicle on an empty highway, it's easy to see the numbers as 500hp or 800hp, but when you lay it down on concrete, it's downright dangerous especially for RWD because you can lose traction for 1 or 2 seconds which is enough to spin out.

I'm deciding that smooth, quiet, and stable with a bit of pull is good enough, i test drove the GX460 and it seems right for me. Just got to tackle the dealerships and get them to bring down the price.
