firstly they all have kdss and theyre going to ride similarly, though the one with adaptive suspension will be a bit more floaty(but planted) in the comfort setting.

as for how it will hold up, mine is a 12 and I can still tell the difference between sport and comfort.

Both vehicles are Lexus certified. Is the auto leveling suspension airbags? We live in north eat Wisconsin and the roads are pretty salty in the winters. Never having air bags on a car before I wonder how they would hold up. Then again a quick run through the car wash could solve any possible material break down.

A Minnesota GX chiming in here.

No issues at all with our auto leveling suspension and ours is a 13 with 97k miles. We have towed a 5x8 trailer and shoved my sister in law in the third row on our adventures; no sag or loss of air in the bags yet! Still rode nice with all the weight.

There is a lot more going on with a GX, but they are super easy to work on and parts are readily available. This forum is helpful too, not snarky.

Equivalent mile 4runners seem to be more expensive to buy and insure. The drivetrains are so different too; the 4.6 and 6spd is heads and tails better than the 4.0 and 5spd.

Enjoy the hunt!

It seems the gx platform is proven. We don’t really need and the creature comforts but the reliability has drawn me to gx. We have mostly bought new cars within the middle trim levels. The price difference between the 19 base/premium and the 18 luxury is about $300. For such a small amount of money it looks like we would be getting a lot more vehicle, but at what cost with possible future repairs?

air bags are just for leveling when towing, and act as the coil springs. the shocks are

yea, reliability is what drew me to the gx to.

personally, unless you plan on towing, the base is good enough. the suspension components are going to cost more to replace if equipped with the air bags, and theres also the air system failing. but at that age it most likely wont need attention anytime soon. mine is eight years old and still running good, recently look it to an independent mechanic and apart from the north eastern rust tax, my airbags are still fine.

as soon as mine is paid off, im trading to a non air bag version. would be nice if you could get the adaptive shocks without the air system.

So we ending up buying the 19 premium. I’ll pick it up Friday. Are there any dealer settings I should have done or anything you can think of that you wished was done before leaving the dealership?

I think people worry too much about the air suspension. It's only the rear and the parts that not that expensive. Especially if you source yourself. The failure rate is also quite low. I understand the convenience of upgrading to lift kit without dealing with the other elements but even this is not that difficult to do. My previous LS430 UL with the air suspension went a hundred 140,000 miles and 13 years without any issues before I traded it in. The nightmare scenarios you hear about or when people drop it off the dealer just say fix it and then they get bent over.

While outlandish I`d like the next gen GX to offer a standard hydraulic step similar to the LX units.

Coils over air anyday!

Congrats on the new ride OP!

Air suspensions ride much better especially in luxury cars. Very little compares.

Looking at a CPO 2017 GX460 Premium....white / ecru....captains chairs....38K miles....they want 37,998....the number is beyond my budget. I am thinking about offering 36,500 but guessing they wont accept...

Why are you guessing things?

Have you found comparables with similar mileage, vehicle history (no accidents or damage reported to carfax), and being CPOed?

If your offer can be backed with facts and figures as they like to say, what are you really guessing? Now if a dealer or even third party decides they know best, and prices themselves out of the market thats their problem.

Finally if you read the analytics on the GX used market, its one of the biggest droppers in value in the current climate with regards to the used market. So the odds are in your favor. Good Luck!

Its hard to know exactly what they are selling at vs listing. That information isnt available. I would assume in todays market / climate there should be flexibility but just hard to say. All i have to go on is list prices...not actual sold prices....

Offer what you want to pay. The worse that happens is that they say no, or come back to you with a price that works for them. You are asking for less than 5%, that doesn't seem unreasonable to me, but I am not a dealer .
