Default 2010 Gx460 purchase

I am thinking of buying a 2010 Gx premium with Mark Levinson, and the parking assist. This vehicle has 73k on it. Is 23k a good buy for it?

It all passed inspection. 1 owner and took care of it. Had all the service done at the dealership

If the pre-purchase inspection at the dealership or indy (different from yearly emissions and safety inspection) was pristine, one owner and records to back it, you should be good. Pricing wise it seems to be fair, but I have no idea exactly on this end of the GX used spectrum.

Contemplating purchasing a used 2015 GX 460 at 83k miles for 26k. The vehicle has been maintained at a Lexus dealership regularly and single owner so +1 to that.

The only thing that's putting me off is the last service entry done at 80k mi(pulled from drivers.lexus.com)

SERVICE: CUSTOMER STATES CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DESCRIPTION: CUSTOMER STATES CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ~|~CUSTOMER STATES CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ~|~ ~|~81989 FIXED

Says it was "fixed" but doesn't go into the root cause and no other details are in the service log. Scared that this issue could pop up again if I buy it. Other models(RX) reported this issue too, usually ended being something with the battery.

What do you guys think? Being overcautious or should I pull the trigger? Also, anything else I should be aware of? The following has been taken care of according to the logs:
  • fuel pump - 7/20 (recall)
  • all tires at 8/32 tread as of 12/19
  • data communication module 11/19 (recall)
  • drive belt replaced - 5/19
  • timing cover 5/19 (recall)
  • Outstanding repair. RECOMMEND REPLACING CUPHOLDER ASSEMBLY ($1280.31).(wtf???)
  • takata airbag 3/19(recall)
  • all brake pads and rotors replaced at 8/17 (does this need to get replaced soon?)

Just picked up a 2019 GX460 with 14,500 miles. It was a courtesy vehicle but is in incredible condition, still has the plastic protector stickers on all the scratch-able plastics and metals. They also are selling it CPO (tried to have them reduce the price and have it non CPO but no go) so we have warranty through 2025 now. Paid $46,500 over the weekend plus tax and bs dealer fees that added on another 4k. Looking forward to learning more about these rigs and get some 275/65R18's for it before winter!

call the dealer about the recent service ticket "fixed" remedy, they should supply it if you give them the VIN and you're thinking of buying the vehicle. If could have been related to a poor seal regarding the fuel pump recall. I think I remember reading that happen a time or two on the forum here... people went in, got it fixed and needed to take it back in again due to the work not being correctly completed the first time.

Is there a timing cover recall? I'm not familiar with it.

The timing cover (if it is a reseal) is a big job. Ours was done about the same mileage, so it's nice not having to worry about that repair in the future. If you're buying from that dealer, they should be able to pull the actual service records and show you what they did. For the price and the mileage, that's a good deal if it presents well.

Default Best GX 460 year?

Hello,

As we are expecting a growing family, my wife wants to upgrade her car from nx 200t to gx 460.

I own 06 gx470 and I really love the car.

I did some research on gx 460 and looks like 2016 will be a good used car to buy.

Can you guys provide some insight to which year i should be shooting for?

Also, the main difference between base and luxury trim?

Thank in advance guys!

2015 is second year after 2014 refresh.

2015, 2016, 2017 are economically great to buy.

When shopping for a USED gx how do I know if prior owner(s) used premium grade gas 91 or higher? Will it cause issues if they used lower octane gas ?

I dont think there's a way for you to know unless it has developed a knocking... in which case you shouldn't buy.
maybe there's a way to check with extensive diagnostics tools ?
but if you were buying somewhat low mileage it should be ok.
