Default Opinions on used gx

https://acceleride.millertoyotaofana...al_alternate=0

Thinking about acquiring this any opinions from members regarding price and what to look for ??

carfax says its a "corporate vehicle"....is that some thing to be concerned about?

was really hoping for the captains chair in second row and light interior but not necessarily a deal breaker

Amy feedback is much appreciated

My concern would be the rotation of drivers, much like rental cars, that have imposed their driving style on the vehicle ... some with no absolutely regard, so the wear-and-tear will no question be higher than with a single owner vehicle. To what extent, who knows ... so is an unknown risk to the long term reliability of the vehicle. For me, this is not a risk worth taking for any level of discount. Why go there when there are plenty of single owner vehicles available, even if they have higher mileage for your budgeted price-point.

I'm sure that has been driven hard. I would stay clear myself. But its a quality made vehicle, have you seen it in person?

I got my wife’s 2017 CPO with 36k on it from Lexus of West Kendal in July. It as the Luxury and Premium packages, tow receiver, lane departure, front radar, rear buckets and it was spotless - paid $33,500. Same exact vehicle here in Charleston was 39-40k.

Default 2010 GX460 with 291K for sale

Hello Lexus owners. I joined this morning looking for advice. I'm in the market for a GX and I found this one owner that's been dealer maintained locally for its entire ownership and I'm thinking of purchasing it but would like some feedback. They are asking $13K and change which seems a bit high for it's mileage, 291K but I'm hoping to get them to down in the low 12's if possible. It's got the timing chain so no timing belt replacement but the unknown for me is that the dealership will not disclose the nature of all the recommended maintenance items that have been completed so that's the only thing holding me back. I can get an 06 470 with lower miles for the same price so that's my other consideration. Thank you in advance.

That's a lot of money for a lotta miles. True these engines and vehicles could go a lot longer if properly maintained, but the cost savings up front might not bode well for future repairs. I think you should be able to find a lower mileage vehicle (100-170k miles) for $15-20k if that is in your budget.

I would also check underneath and see how 10 years of salt/rust looks on a northeast vehicle.

thanks for the reply and advice. My current budget is topped out $13K but I'd really like to get something closer to $10K. so an older GX470 is probably the better route to go. I can get 2006 with 191K for $9K but not complete dealer maintenance records. I used to own a Toyota Sequoia which we loved but I sold it to get my wife a Volvo XC90 which better suits her needs now. This Lexus will be my daily driver.

Definitely too many miles. Look for private sales, you can get one with much lower miles.

That's a lot of miles to be a daily driver. If 10-12k is your budget, you might want to look at a Highlander instead. I dont care how well built these GX are, the plastics, seals, shocks, tires, brakes, powertrain and etc will start wearing out at those mileages. Your repair bills will not be cheap since this is a V8 so while you might be able to get the vehicle for 10-12k, you might end up spending 5k in repairs in the near future.

At this mileage you have to be prepared to address major issues with ANY vehicle or write it off in case the repair cost would exceed the estimated value of the vehicle. It is really your decision how much you want to invest into a vehicle that is near or exceeded its intended lifetime but I personally would not pay that much for anything even if it had a 100k less miles.

well, all good advice and I'll stay away from the high mileage one and keep looking for a better deal. I do have 252K on my XC90 that's my daily driver and apart from oil and filter, brakes etc I've not had much issues so I'm not afraid of the miles but the price really is way too much. thank you all. I'll post back once I find the right vehicle.
