I should have been more specific and stated fan speed controls.

To your last point ... agree ... give me climate control buttons and ***** ... but now buried layers down in a menu system ... where making a change at 60 MPH is dangerous. Again ... "tech" ... and not very smart ... especially the Japanese ... who as a society are logical and highly organized ... but are absolutely clueless when it comes to designing software interface / menu systems.

Pricing info gx460 vs gx470
Adding some anecdotal info in case it helps any looking for an older GX. Ordered a new ride for the Mrs, and one of the GXs will be going. I was curious how that range was holding up for pricing/demand.
Decided to take both to Carmax today to see where the actionable auction type baseline is and how that comps vs Edmunds etc estimates. In short:
08 GX470, 173k miles, clean, 8,500 carmax in line with Edmunds, KBB 9500
13 GX460, 143k miles, clean, 13,500 carmax vs ~17.5 Edmunds, KBB 16.5-17.5
Have not had the dealer price either yet but this was inline with the spread between the two I roughly expected with the 13 a tad soft from what I expected to see. It is what it is so posting here. This was Chicago burbs pricing same day.
Now its time to figure out who gets kicked off the island…

Interesting, at least on the '13, which has the oldest interface, I find it pretty easy, just one physical button stroke, and then one touch screen stroke, as each fan level has its own display button rather than jabbing at it multiple times.

current trade-in offers vs pvt party vs retail
I am in the market for a 2014-2016 GX
I found one I like that is in budget
2015 - Excellent service history, clean 2 owner carfax 113K miles. The seller upgraded to 2020 + grill and headlights which cost $1600 and is a BIG selling point for me
He is asking $26K
Out of curiosity I ran his VIN on the 3 large buying sites, Carmax, Vroom, and Carvana
Carmax- $19270
Vroom-21050
Carvana $20233
I know the pandemic overpay on used cars is over for the wholesalers- I am just wondering if these seem inline with market?
I've looked on cargurus, cars.com, carfax, and marketplace from coast to coast and most 2014-2015 with approx 100K miles are retailing for $24-$26K

i upgraded my 2017 to the 2020 grill, so i get the appeal and understand it has value to you in terms of your personal preference, but i expect that in terms of true blue book or trade-in value, the alteration would probably hurt the value.
ignoring the customization, assuming it is in technically "very good" condition, and assuming it is not a luxury model, kbb says the private party value is $23,653, for whatever it may be worth.
also, my experience has been that a model year difference is worth about $3k - $4k and an "average" year of mileage is worth about $3k - $4k. so, for instance, if you have (2) GXs that are of the same model year and equal in all other respects, but one has 12k to 15k more miles than the other, it will be worth about $3k - $4k less. and, if you have (2) GXs that are equal in all other respects, and have the same mileage, the difference in value will be about $3k - $4k per model year.

Regarding the facelift, I was taking into account the work already being done.
so if I was to buy a 2015 for say $25K but then spend $650 on the grill and another $1000 on the lights, I would be right back to where we started on the one done. not to mention the time to do the install

Interesting thread on the upgrades. I’ve decided to sell my 2013 with the 2020+ updates. Still love the GX but have my wife’s GX should the itch to drive one resurge. Hers we have had for 3 years now, a record for me.
My 13 has OEM takeoff shocks and springs from a 2021 Blackline and new rotors/pads plus the level & K02 rubber. Am the second owner, always dealer serviced.
Rust free, premium package. Has 160k on it. The update was not cheap as it involved paint work. Figuring 24k?? Interior is near perfect, black leather and has remote start w both key fobs. Seem reasonable? It is in excellent shape, no dings and garage kept nearly all of its life.
I got something fun that is a 2 door to replace it.

Used 2019 GX460 Questions
Hello all. New member here. I joined because I am considering a 2019 GX460 and would like to know any items I should look out for before deciding on a purchase. The vehicle I'm looking at currently is a 2019 GX460 with 85k miles that is a single owner vehicle with a clean history report and from California. I'm coming from a 2014 Dodge Durango R/T that's started to have a series of coolant system issues - I'm mentally done with it. Looking to upgrade to something a bit more off-road oriented, nicer, and most importantly sturdy and reliable where myself and my family can cruise around here in Colorado without much worry. The Lexus GX certainly seems to fit that bill on paper.
Are there any areas where I should pay particular attention when looking at this vehicle? What should I expect down the road maintenance wise? Any advice from other GX owners is welcome. Thanks.
Austin

Not sure what your budget is, and it sounds like you want to replace the turdango sooner then later, but there are usually PLENTY of low mile GX460's in that age range to chose from normally. Maybe not locally, but nation wide there will be. If you have time you should be able to score one with less then 50k miles easily.
With that being said they are excellent vehicles. Depending on use at 50-60k miles the fluids should all be changed, but other then that you should be golden.
