Default With Rear Suspension Airbags Fully Inflated, How Much Ground Clearance?

For those with airbag suspension, how much ground clearance are you getting with the bags fully inflated?

Remember, the air suspension is on top of the rear live axle. And GX is body on frame structure. No matter what setting, it didn’t change any ground clearance. The bottom of rear axle has never moved up and down. The air suspend only changes load floor and roof heights.

and it only is applicable for speeds less than 15 mph.... once the vehicle speed increases above the setpoint the vehicle returns to normal height automatically.

Raising the rear causes the front to tilt down slightly, causing your minimum ground clearance to actually decrease a bit. You can see it a bit in
.

Yup, the approach angle will be slightly less and the departure angle will be greater in the highest setting.

Some huge 37”s should increase that ground clearance for ya!

OP is asking about ground clearance. Since the lowest point is the rear differential case on axle, regardless the setting and approach and departure angles, that is still remaining the lowest point to the ground clearance.

Which is why I ended with stating the OP should throw on a set of 37” tires to increase the ground clearance.

Mostly a hilarious joke...

So to answer this another way ... the airbag system is not designed to increase ground clearance, it’s purpose is to re-level the rear end when carrying a heavy load ... cargo, rear passengers or when towing (or a combination thereof). Only taller tires will increase ground clearance.
