Default 2012 gx 460

Just picked up a '12 GX 460, and need to install a tow hitch and wiring. Suggestions? Thanks!

What do you plan to use the hitch for? If you need full 6500 lb capacity you will want to look at the Class IV OEM

Will be towing my boat (2500lbs, plus 700lb trailer - 3200lbs) to the lake.
i've done a little bit of research since my OP, and the Curt and Draw-Tite look to be about the same, and very easy to install.
What about wiring?
One more thing...my bumper has this detachable piece in the middle, which looks like is used to hide the hitch, but in my research on hitches for this car, the hitch installs below this, so what is the point of this detachable piece? Thanks,
Tony

IMO... you should be fine with others with that load.

Pre-wiring should be there. At worst you would need this item

PN: PT72534140 / 7-Pin And 4-Pin Trailer Connector. Towing Wire Harnesses And Adapters

As for cover on 10-13 perhaps just easy of access to install. I think it might be modified for Eurohitch versions but not sure.

Default USB and 12v power plug

Couple of questons: will the USB in the console charge a phone, or is it just for playback?
Is there a fuse somewhere for the USB and 12v power plug source in the console? Neither one seems to have any power to them.
Thanks, Tony

P.S. Can the Bluetooth function in this truck be used to stream music from my andoid phone, or is it strictly "normal" phone use?

Yes. Both USBs can charge the phone. Check your own’s manual for fuse location. Bluetooth can stream music as well.

Curt makes great aftermarket tow hitches and the wiring as well. I think they are 10% off at this time at Autoanything.

Default Update

Thanks for all the replies so far - been a big help! So I got power outlet working, as well as my phone BT-streaming through the stereo. And I just got through installing the Curt hitch receiver. One concern is that, because of the spare tire, the ball-mount will only go to the first set of holes, leaving about 4 inches sticking o

ut of the receiver. Is this going to be ok? On my previous car ('07 BMW X3), the ball-mount was almost flush against the receiver. My "anti-rattle" device won't fit on it. I imagine this setup will be kinda "rattle-ey".
Also, I've included a pic of what's in the "tire-changing tool-box"...what is missing, and where can I source whatever is missing?
And what went in the other compartment on the rear hatch? - it's completely empty.
Again, thanks to everyone who have helped so far!
Tony

If you think the additional length is a problem, cut some off and use the other hole.

A few wraps of electrical tape on the tube will stop rattles for years.

There's a "tool kit thread" somewhere on here that explains what's missing.

That should be fine on the hitch.

I use this anti-rattle device on mine.
