LEXUS Dropping 3G Emergency Services with no solution
I am sure many of you who have 2011-2018 Lexus GX may be aware they are discontinuing the Remote access / Emergency Response system due to the end of 3G. I totally understand that Lexus cannot control the end of 3G phone service but almost every other car manufacturer has offered the owners a solution to keep the emergency service and remote access. Many may not use all the features but for me I love to get a report each month for my 2017 Lexus GX 460 with vehicle history and maintenance info. In addition I really don't want to lose the ability to lock and unlock doors remotely and start or stop the engine.
I LOVE LEXUS and will only buy their cars but so disappointed they are leaving their customers in the dark instead of offering some sort of solution.
See this article below from Consumer Reports about what other car companies are doing.

As a Canadian I have never known the "convenience" Enform or the other online apps that are available in the US models.
There is no connectivity on my 2021 GX, no SOS button, no Enform, no weather, no traffic ....
Followed up with Lexus Canada and was told that these are not available in Canadian models

Just a reminder... about a month out
I suppose next time I am in the dash after end of October I could take out the telematics unit along with the Mayday battery.

Perhaps a GROM install location one can access via that side panel in the glove box?

There is a telematics ECU swap thread on GS forum but don’t see project completion…

Is the consensus that this can be removed without causing any issues? I’ve got a GROM and it would be great to open up some more space behind the head unit for all the wiring it comes with.

2018 Gx 460
Yea I am not to happy with Lexus not providing option to customers for outdated hardware introduction in their part in relation to Enforum and Safety connect. Lexus why would you introduce 3G year 2000 technology into 2018 GX, luxury is all’s bout refinement and staying ahead not backwards.
I work in software development and this is ridiculous, Lexus provide an upgrade to your loyal customers otherwise they will be heading somewhere else ! Not buying or referring another Lexus until personally I see a resolution.

I’m very interested in buying 12volt solutions
How is your plug and play working now? Did dealer program your original fobs to work for plug and play? Will this connect even when 3g down? I would like to get one for my Rc350.
