Over on tundratalk people with the same codes mentioned replacing the transmission output speed sensor To resolve the issue, they replaced the solenoids and fluid with no change. Not sure if the GX transmission has the same speed sensor but might be a heck of a lot cheaper than any other ideas.
edit: just looked up the part and it is used on both Tundra and GX. Part number is:

8941332011

Looks like two speed sensors used. One on the bell housing end with PN 89413-0C011 (you listed) and the other one on output end of transmission PN: 8941332011.

looks like SP2 (your part number) On the back of the transmission, passenger side is the one they replaced. I will change the p/n in my original post to eliminate confusion. Good catch!

I have an update on my tranmission saga.
This past Friday I took it to my mechanic to finally try to fix this once and for all.

I took the advice of some of the board members, I changed the transmission fluid (5 7 qts), put a new gasket, at filter o-ring,oil strainer, and changed both speed sensors.

So far so good. We cleared the check engine lights and the codes. I drove all weekend in the car and nothing had come back up. I am hoping that I am clear of this once and for all. Crossing my fingers.

I was able to get a picture of my solenoids while we had it open.

Mechanic told me if the check engine light comes back the next step would be to try to replace the solenoids. Do they sale them individually? Or would I be stuck replacing the whole valve body?

One more question, I notice that the speed sensors are are both the same part number.

I ordered exactly that from the local toyota dealer. They gave me two different parts. Unfortunately I did not notice when I picked up the parts. The mechanic is the one who caught it and he thought maybe there was one for the front and a different one for the back. They looked identical and my car was already on the lift with the tranny cracked open so I told him to go for it. I couldn't delay, so I went for it.

I took a photo of both parts. Does anyone know if these are the same?

Good to hear things are working good so far.

89413-0C011 appears to just be a new part rev of 8941332011

Great, so I got one of the older ones and one of the new ones. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

It's my pleasure sharing. If anyone in the future has this problem and it saves them the headache then im glad and god forbid they have someone convince them to replace the whole damn tranny.

Does anyone have the answer to this question? Are the valves available individually? Maybe I even from another car that shares this transmission?

and btw, she is still running strong. The check engine light has not come back and the transmission is very very smooth.
I am probably going on a 6 to 7 hour road trip this weekend. Crossing my fingers she holds up.

Solenoids are available.. PNs here

I count 9 in schematic...

PNs:

3529034010 <--- two of these
3521050010 <--- two of these

There seem to be four different versions of the 35240 in schematic.... no idea at this point how you determine other than looking for PN on part. The 5 are all the same if you can figure out PN.

3524050030
3524050040
3524050050
3524050060

If you replaced all the solenoids you would be at around $1763. It would probably be better to just get a rebuilt valve body at that point. If it was just one or a few then obviously cheaper to replace them individually.

Acrad you're the man. Thank you very much. I hope I won't need this information. It seems like such a simple part I didn't imagine it would cost so much. But seriously glad we have you on this forum.

Well if you thought that was the last you heard of me and my transmission you were wrong, and I was too.

The very day after I did a 600 mile round trip over the weekend. I got on the highway and the car would not shift out of second gear. At 60 mph I was at 3500 rpm. Then I saw the warm familiar glow of the check engine light and 4lo.
I am grateful the car decided to wait till I got home. I will give it that.

Now I am on to plan B. Any ideas? Should I switch out the solenoids next?
