Captain's Chairs Questions, Concerns, Comments

I generally prefer not to put car seats in 3rd row, but if you really want to do it, it should fit and your GX460 should have one anchor for child seat on the right side. You can also move the 2nd row seat forward to make more space for a car seat in the back.

So 2 car seats and the 5 year old would be a booster seat? If so I don’t see a problem.

Really enjoyed reading this thread. Thinking of comfort only, are the captain chairs more comfortable than the bench, or just the same? Are the captain chairs more adjustable (in terms of being able to recline)? Thanks for your input.

Rear captain chairs are very comfortable. The cupholders leave a-lot to be desired.

Left them as is, 95% of the time just me and my wife. Would be curious to see if someone has come up with a good solution. Anyone?

I have the captain chairs in the luxury, but prefer the bench seat. This is a personal choice. The captain chairs are higher so if you fill the back to the ceiling, you will have less volume. More storage space is a higher priority for me. You also have the separation between the two seats. So when the seats are up, you can place longer items between them. That becomes a disadvantage when they are folded down since items may fall between them. I personally think they are not that comfortable and look sort of cheap. We rarely have people in the second row, so it is not much of a factor. If you have a larger dog, they can not spread across the two seats. This is a major factor for us. For 2023, you pay extra for the captains chair (sport package), but I do not see the increased benefit for the investment. In the end, it is a matter of personal preference.

although in terms of appearance, comfort, and 'coolness' I was glad my 460 had 2nd row captain's chairs when I found it, as I was loading some long items in the back today, I again wanted to go box someone's ears at Toyota over how poorly the 2nd row seats fold down in comparison to how great they flipped forward in my 470.

Hey guys quick question. I don't own the GX460 but feel the itch to get one after owning the GX470 for 18 years. One requirement is there needs to be enough empty floor space between the back of captain chair and 3rd row seat.
If you push the captain chair all the way forward, how much floor space is available? I got a emergency Camco portable toilet for DW that's 14 inches wide. It'd be nice if there is enough space.
Can you take off the headrest of the captain chair so one can push the chair as forward as possible?
Thanks!

sorry this isn't a complete answer, but yes, you can take the headrests off and push the 2nd row captain chairs all the way forward. I don't know the dimension of the resulting floor space for the 3rd row. I'll try to remember to measure it tomorrow or the next day.

Hey guys, just joined the group. have a 2018 gx460 sport white on sapia, and was wondering if anyone was successful at this swap? My car has bucket seats, was great, now the family is growing- we need more space in the truck, I would love to see if anyone has accomplished this task, thanks
