I have bench, my wife has captains.

I prefer bench. The kids don't have to climb back to the 3rd row, and no, they don't deserve heated seats.

If you have kids bench. If you don't (and we don't), captains are a nice option for hauling passengers periodically. The only downside to captains is the gap between them when lowered for cargo. I fixed that by putting a pair of Lexus rolled blankets in between them. They look nice and are a good accent for the in-laws during the winter on chilly nights out. I also like the look of the captain's chairs but that is only an opinion. Functionality for your use(s) should drive your decision.

I have 3 kids and I do NOT like captain chair - because one of the kid must ride in the back.

Bench for sure. Captains are nice but having another seat is better than none. You still get heated seats on the out board seats with the bench.

I've got dogs and often use a dog hammock in the back. I am sure the dogs appreciate having a nice long sleeping area rather than just 1 small seat.

Bench for me. Had Cap chair on my minivan and it wasn't comfortable.

I was recently checking out the GX at my dealer and was looking at the second row captain's chairs. I like them. That's what we have in our Highlander and they've worked well for us. We have two kids, and this allows them to each have their own seat and some "forced separation".

If we have visitors with us, the kids go back to the third row (it's not mean, they love riding back there). With the captain's chairs it's easy as they can walk between the second row seats to get there.

For these same reasons, should be pick up a GX, we will most likely go with the captain's chairs.

Default Captain chairs insert?

Does the aftermarket or genuine insert exist to place between Captain chairs in the 2nd row?

Thank you in advance!

I doubt it. To be legal you'd need a middle, anchored, seatbelt.

insert to do what?
a console insert usually doesnt require any seatbelt
if its going to be permanent and for sitting then theres more to consider.

Yes, insert between chairs but doesn't need to be permanent. For example, in Highlander, they have an insert that goes between the seats when it is needed to convert to the bench.
