Default Worst Tires You've Experienced

I've been doing research on tires (as we all do) incessantly over the past few months. Wildpeak comes up as a good one, KO2 is another one thrown in the mix, as are a few others. Everyone seems to have their own take on how good this tire or that tire is, and how great their experience was with X tire. However, I haven't really seen any threads talking about terrible experiences with tires, and I think thats a shame. I think knowing about someone's bad experience with a tire could really help guide people's decisions as well.

So I'm asking the group, what tire did you have a terrible experience with? I think specific to the GX or similar is probably best but I realize there are people on here with a ton more experience than I.

My specific example is for a Nissan X-terra, with Cooper ATPs from Discount Tire. They were fine at first, good price and decent handling. After about 25-30k miles they just went to crap. Out of balance seemingly all the time, treadwear was significantly faster than it should have been, etc. I would not recommend those tires to anyone, and I won't buy them for myself. This has obviously made me weary of all Cooper tires, though I'm not sure thats a fair take.

What tire experience did you have that was terrible?

I will never buy Bridgestone Duelers again. Couldn't wait to get those off my vehicle, they roared, cupped, and rode just terrible.
I'm a Michelin fan and like the LTX AT 2's, they last and last...

Most OEM tires are so so, while some are good.

My worse experience was the Yokohama YK580s exclusive from Discount Tire. Basically they couldn't not balance them for good. It always had vibration after many attempts. So I had them swap to a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4s and all was smooth as glass.

I still buy tires from Discount Tire though, they provide great service. But I stick with tire reviews now and don't buy random tires.

The Dueler H/L Alenza Plus are the complete opposite. Had them on my 4Runner and now on the GX.

Not a fan of the goodyears on mine, never seem to balance. They were brand new on the car when I bought it years ago. Been waiting for them to wear out but they seemingly last forever.

The Revo's I'm talking about were OEM on a Ford F-150. I actually plan on putting 265/65R18 Revo 3's on our 2017 GX460.
They seem well liked. The Revo's on the truck were totally different and passenger radials, yes, but still the worst tires I've ever had.

Really curious about this one. I remember when the 5th gens 4R first came out, people were loving them.

They are the punchline of many jokes in the Rising Sun club. Mostly sidewall issues, but some failures on the tread as well. Not sure if it’s the pointy granite around here or what, but I could rattle off 8-10 failures since they came on the scene and probably 80% were sidewalk tears.
That said, one of my buddies has 40k on his Duratracs without issue, so there are some success stories.

Thats really interesting, and definitely brings up a good point of total failures might be relevant to where you are/what you do with said tires.

Bridgestone Duelers that came on half of GX’s were the worse. The tread flew off and they were horrible in any wet weather now the Michelin latitudes are fantastic and the LTX MS2 are even better.

The Cooper Discoverer tires our GX came with were not great. Maybe fine for off road but for city and highway driving, they were pretty loud. Much happier with Michelin tires now.

For anyone looking for a terrible tire, please consider the Dunlop Grandtrek. Loud, hard and fairly ugly. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
