Default Dog Travel: AC/Flooring

Looking for input on how well the AC works in the back cargo area and also if everything folds down flat in 2011-2016 years.

My RX300 is nice and flat, but AC in back is terrible for dogs or other animals. I volunteer at a wildlife educational center and could have anything from an opossum to a wolf, coyote or other one of our ambassadors back there. 97 degrees now in Chicago and too hot in back even with AC on full.

I've had my RX300 back seats down probably 99% of the time driving and plan to do the same with my future GX. Hopefully, all years are nice and relatively flat?

Currently running my old 2000 RX300, but ready for an upgrade this fall and shooting for a nice GX.

Assuming you get a premium with 3 zone A/C, the rear has a separate A/C system, so it works pretty great!

Seats do fold even with the rear.

I agree, I have the 3 zone in my 2020 and live in Arizona. We know heat and the ac rocks☝🏻

While driving back from South Carolina in July our dogs in back were visibly hot. We turned the rear AC on and they seemed much more comfortable and stopped panting.

Technical data about the rear HVAC unit. It heats as well as cools. The GX 470 didn't have a heater core in back.

My dog loves the rear AC. I leave the 2nd row down with a tarp covering everything and cheap comforter over the top for comfort. She loves it back there since I leave it set at 66 for her, Bernese Mountain Dog. We can leave the dog park and she hops in, panting goes quickly.
