2010-2013 OEM Radio, Stereo, Navigation Problems, Questions, Updates

No replays with this problem so here is mine.
It's not a fuse. Maybe the unit was pulled out and a wiring harness is loose. Have you or a previous owner done any mods that may cause this, maybe the Navigation in motion bypass module?
My first steep to fix any software problems is to power it down (pull the battery cable off in this case).
Not exactly your problem, but check this out,

Good luck and please update us with your findings

In my opinion the Lexus GX 460 navigation system is junk, and I can't imagine why they even bother installing it. The interface is not at all intuitive. It doesn't respond well to voice commands, and the technology is antiquated. Yesterday I tried using it to find a craft brewery in Northern Virginia and after two of three wasted minutes trying fruitlessly to find the address in the navigation system, I decided to try Destination Assist. It took them awhile to answer, and when they did, they found the address but couldn't send it to my navigation system. After hanging up, I found it on my iPhone's Google Maps and was on my way in less than a minute. I have a 2008 ES 350 UL, and the navigation in that is essentially the same as my 2017 GX. When I bought my ES, I suggested in a survey that Lexus partner with Apple to develop their electronics interfaces. We're well into the 21st Century and they haven't caught up. And I do realize that the GX is an antequated design that is on the tail end of being updated, but this is something they could have done during the last model update.

I just purchased a GX without nav today and this was the first thing I inquired about! Does anyone have updates on any aftermarket options we have for the non-nav?

As mentioned earlier... that is a unicorn and while the GX isn't a rare car it is far less common than many other models. IMO.. you will probably end up being the one doing the writeup on this conversion. Going back almost 20 years on navigation conversions... they are few and far between on mass produced automobiles.
EDIT: I know you are asking aftermarket but likely the same complexity for conversion.

You need to make a list of items you need for the conversion and then start from there I'm sure you'll be able to find a salvage yard with a front or rear end damage and everything else in nice working condition. Good luck and keep us posted.

Consider yourself lucky to have mechanical/physical controls for your climate control. With the Nav system installed, the defrost, heat, A/C are controlled solely by the touch screen. I'd rather have your setup as I prefer physical buttons and dials, also I would be concerned with repair cost outside of warranty. I could due without the Nav function if it broke, but must have the defrost, heat, A/C etc. function working.

That is a good point. I have a 10 year old Infiniti with similar system. It also has an old school platter hard drive for the nav unit. Fortunately HD failure only loses the navigation & ripped CD music (system support ripping music before some copyright lawsuit pulled plug on tech around 2011) and nothing else.
Hopefully loss of HD in GX just kills the navigation map data at worst with HVAC still working
Toyota is using automotive grade hard disks like Nissan so they will likely last a long time.

Only until recently did they find a way on Infiniti forums to find a way to clone this and work via some threads on another Skyline forum. The objective was to convert to an SSD drive but in reality and from my experience that isn't a road to reliability... only performance at this point.
I haven't looked closely at Toyota infotainment but Nissan uses QNX for a lot of stuff.

One video, of several on YouTube, showing a repair of a non-functioning touch screen:
I do suspect that this is not a common problem as I have not read of any GX460 having a non-functioning touch screen.

Calendar & Maintenance App in Infotainment
I was waiting to pick up the wife the other day and playing around in infotainment. I noticed the calendar only goes out to 12/2027 in my rig.
Other '10-'13 owners seeing the same thing? How about the '14+ models? Absolutely not a big deal for me... just a curiosity..
EDIT: Vehicle maintenance is the same way with last date of 12.31.2027

Yep, I have 2008-2027.
2027 is the self-destruct date

I guess this will be addressed in the aftermarket 2026 autonomous electric powertrain and VR infotainment upgrade. :-)

Need code when replacing display/headunit?
Does anyone happen to know if you need an unlock code when replacing the display/headunit in the 460?

I don't think so, I needed a code when I changed the battery in my MDX and I have changed the battery in my GX with no problem.
