So the LS 460 (not sure of other models) with ML had option to record audio to HD until 2010? I believe there was some legal issue to remove this feature at or after 2010 model year. That was the case with Nissan anyway. It appears from 460 FSM there were plans to release feature but got yanked.
Is there anyway to update the back up camera to add the parking lines or even the bending lines that minor the steering wheel direction. I drove a new RX last week because my SUV was in for an oil change. Wow what a difference!!

Unlikely. Also costs prevented to upgrade. The fixed (and/or dynamic moving) guide lines are part of Center display and Park Assist ECU functions, especially the moving dynamic lines also interactive with steering spiral sensor as well. Based on my recent findings, the later GX model (2014+) fixed guide line (the blue and red) are build into the display unit and suer imposed on reverse camera image. The dynamic (yellow) moving guide lines are generated from Park Assist ECU which only available with certain configuration and equipped GX, particularly in oversea market.
Even new 2018 GX's only get the dynamic lines if the optional "ZA" Driver Support Package w/Mark Levinson Audio, Pre-Collision System w/Driver Attention Monitor, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High-Beam Headlamps, Wide-view Front and Side Monitor, Crawl Control is ordered.
The cameras Ive used had the lines built in the camera. You cut a wire to remove the lines. These are the fixed lines, not the dynamic ones. make sure you get or modify for the proper voltage if you are going to use the same power source as original.

Those guide line is totally useless. Not anywhere close to representing the actual GX dimension, which you will be hitting something long before those lines "touch" the obstacles.

If you use a line to prevent hitting something then yes, useless. I have never seen any lines on a screen that do anything to prevent contact.
If you use the lines to get the vehicle parallel with the parking stripes, then very useful.
