Still have to wonder if that sound library function is still burned in but not active on 10-13 units.

Thoughts about cloning the hard drive for backups and possibly finding a small PATA SSD drive that would work in head unit as a test.

if you get the same drive you can do a 1-1 bit copy in dos that wont bother to read for verification except at that bit level
i wonder if the system uses the master password or secondary password in the hard drive.

Turn a mechanical Hard Drive on and never turn off ... they last close to forever ... it's the number of spin-ups that shorten the life, assuming nothing catastrophic happens in the meantime.

This model seems to come up a lot as one possibly used.

Dirt cheap less than $20 these days.

This is on LS460 forum, it looks like swapping involves some master password etc.
Found this SSD (PATA) with good review (fakespot checked). If there is a clear path to do the upgrade, I would like to give it try.

Not sure if this applies 10 - 13, on my 2014, I had this happened once when the radio just locked up and without response to input buttons, by holding down the volume dial, it will restart the radio with Lexus logo on screen just as you startup the car.

Antenna connect is behind head unit, it should be a green square connector with a thick center pin. However, error message are driven buy the ECU and could mean much complex issues than just a simple loose connector. You can try disconnect the battery for few minutes to have a complete ECU and system reset to see if there could fix, or utilize Techstream To check if there is any associated reports code for further diagnose.

OEM Radio, Stereo, Navigation Issues
Good day.
I have a 2010 GX460 with a Mark Levinson radio.
The issue that I am having is that out of nowhere the radio unit will start cycling to different radio options on its own and sometimes even raising the volume up with no way for me to stop it.
What it usually does while I am listening to the radio out of nowhere it will go to FM1, FM2, AM, CD, SAT, BLUETOOTH Etc. rapidly sometimes even ejecting a CD and this will last typically for 2-3 minutes before it calms down and I can control the radio unit again.
This all started about 5 months ago and would do it maybe 2-3 times a month, but now it's almost twice a week.
I really need your help on this one and would prefer to stick with the stock radio.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick reply on this Acrad.
Well I read the entire discussion on the link you attached and its not reassuring and limited options with up in the air results.
1) Buy new radio $9000. that is nuts and I don't think anyone is going to do that.
2) They talked about a possible refurbishment but I did not see any links or source or even a price.
3) I guess a 2nd hand unit from a yard or eBay is an option but what are you really getting on an electronic unit that's 8-10 years old ? that's a roll of the dice at best.
I am hoping someone can provide a reasonable solution soon.

If you do have to go down repair route I've seen this placed mentioned before.

I guess that's an option, thanks for that.
If I am correct our radios are a two piece setup the top is the touch screen half and the lower portion half with the buttons and the volume control ***** is the brains of the unit.
So if I was to have this repaired or replaced we would be talking about the lower half, correct ?
