I never use the factory radio for more than settings and climate.

Deep clean your Mode and volume buttons on your steering wheel. Pretty common for those to get dirty in the cracks and make the radio go crazy. My radio did the random switching until I cleaned the Mode button. Otherwise if you're having issues with the volume and tuning **** then that's another issue altogether.

The volume **** on the actual unit is the one having the issue. Cleaning the one on the steering wheel will help?

How do you know it's the volume **** on the radio itself that is the issue?

The volume controls on the steering wheel will work but the **** on the radio doesn’t do anything. Well it comes and goes. I’ve taken them negative cable off for 15 minutes. The first time it worked and the second time it didn’t. But I drove the car a couple hours later and the **** worked again.

On my updated 13, still love the vehicle but really wish that it had Apple Carplay. Last year I bought a low miles, lightly used Jeep Wrangler 2dr Sahara and put a 10-inch nav system in it that has wireless CarPlay. That is such a great feature. I’ve driven that for the past 6 months but got back in my GX last week and, wow, just really enjoy driving that so much more than I do the Jeep.

The question: Is it possible to get a nav system from a 17 plus GX and swap it for the nav from my 13? Know it ain’t gonna be cheap but neither is selling my 13 and buying a newer one that has the newer nav that will take a GROM or whatever that is called.

This Beatsonic option is highly regarded

On the OEM retrofit…Let’s just say… if you successfully put a stock ‘14-‘21 infotainment unit in your ‘13 you will be the one creating the first writeup on all the custom wiring and challenges you ran into. :-)

. Not me!!

Thanks! I’ve not looked too closely at the Beatsonic but will have to take it on. Really wish that mine had the power fold mirrors and heated steering wheel but will be able to live if it at least has Carplay. Thanks again.

Unfortunately it is impossible due to different ECUs and all the wire harness. Also there are different sets of CAN bus commands involved. This is also why the aftermarket CarPlay add-on have two different versions for GX prior or after 2014 models.

I’ve seen those but am not so sure that I want to undertake that given the reliability and potential electrical foibles.

Post touch screen defaults to nav

Hello folks,
I am new to Lexus ownership with the purchase of a 2013 GX 460 Base with Nav. Have mastered most features but can't figure out how to keep the touch screen from defaulting back to nav, even when nav is not activated. Would like it to stay on audio screen, or any other screen until i want to change it, but defaults back to nav after a few seconds.
Is there a way to keep it from always defaulting back to nav?

(my apologies for the appearance of this post, I'm a newbie)
