The person to contact and is responsible for this discontinuation of this 3G service is Shaun Yzquierdo at Lexus Corporate in Plano TX. He is responsible for these connected technologies, and he would best be able to help you,

Cellular providers are shutting down 3G service to focus infrastructure on 5G and 4G service ... tower space is being repurposed, so the (obsolete) 3G infrastructure is getting bumped ... article below ...

Maybe someone with great Twitter-fu or social media influencing can start tagging Lexus and their handles from Twitter to get their attention?

Hmmm ... 3G to 4G requires a hardware change to support at the vehicle level ... so why would Lexus or any other manufacturer supply this hardware update ? ... (planned) obsolescence is the price of having the need to have the latest technology ... so buy a new vehicle or live with what you have. The automotive space has followed the software model ... which is what some will call progress ... with the associated cost to stay current.

If I bought a 2018 and was using this feature then found out that this tech is discontinued, I'd be very unhappy. Who knows someone could start a class-action against Lexus...you can pretty much sue for anything now aday.

I was reading the history of the original Lexus Link a while back on Wikipedia.
This is what apparently happened with last transition from analog to digital.
https://www.edmunds.com/car-technolo...peed-bump.html
"Lexus Link Goes as OnStar Goes
Lexus Link essentially is a service that Toyota has farmed out to OnStar, so it faces the same transition. On January 1, 2008, the company is cutting off 17,000 Lexus Link subscribers who own vehicles made between 2001 and 2004 and with analog-based telematics systems. Owners can either remove their system at a dealership for no charge or receive a $900 gift certificate to purchase the new generation of Lexus Link when they buy a new vehicle. Toyota reintroduced Lexus Link with digital technology beginning in the 2006 model year in some vehicles and the 2007 model year with others."

I have an ‘18. It’s disappointing that it would have 3G in it, but I don’t use the service. I liked remote start, but I didn’t also want to have to subscribe to Safety Connect. I’d prefer using the key for remote start anyway. But for a 2018 that is still in warranty, I can see it being a big issue for people who bought certified or new late models still under warranty.
