Teslas have really long extended maintenance intervals, like any other EV or hybrid (100k+ brakes etc).
That great benefit however gets negated with the number of quality issues that say a tesla develop straight from the factory. Roofs and rear bumpers flying off, reat seats that dont sit flush, doors that dont open, panel gaps etc etc. The average youtuber (I guess something that you have to open once you decide Tesla is your next vehicle) documents multiple either mobile service appointments or actual tesla service appointments.
I`d say for arguments sake, if an EV mfg fixes those mundane issues (At least from a legacy automaker pov), EVs will be soo much more popular to those who want a maintenance free vehicle.

I noticed a couple of things on Tesla that I dont quite like: paper thin front hood sheet metal, full glass roof construction and low profile tires.
Overall I don't mind owning a model 3 and GX. They complement each other well.

Sorry if I am going off GX a bit here. Just my 2c as we recently test drove tesla Model 3, Y, and X. So I spent about 1.5h total in these cars. Kids love the car due to its futuristic design. EV (or hydrogen fuel cell car) to me is sure the future for folks who have access to charging station at home or on road. Most of us will probably love relatively simple maintenance due to electrical drive system.

Until then still a GX for me.

There is do doubt in my mind that long after most of us are dead alternative fuel vehicles will be the norm, but today when a friend of a friend brags that he can cross country all day long in one of his two Tesla's it all sounds promising until he mentions he tops off every 100 miles...Sounds like long days to me unless he uses "Ludacris" mode the whole way?

Your chosen example of a poorly built/problem rich vehicle is a...civic? Really?
