it looks like this mark levinson subwoofer mounts on the left side of the interior- I'm wondering if from the factory the rear quarter trim panel for the GX with the mark levinson system has a grille built into it, and the GX without the mark levinson does not have the grille?

Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade the sound in my wife's 21 GX without ML as a Mother's day gift. I'm going to replace speakers and add an amp, but I also want to add a single 8" sub and I'm looking for placement ideas from those who have done this or something similar. We aren't 'kids' anymore, and don't need "booming" sound. I just want to have that low performance to go with the mids and highs. Space is at a premium, so the less this would take up, the better.
If you've added a sub to your GX and have ideas or pictures on where it goes, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I am using a 5-chanel amp running dash speakers off 2, doors off 2, and subwoofer off the 5th. I used Speaker Connection Harness - PAC (pac-audio.com) to make tying into factory speaker wires after the factory amp easier. I have been told that this is the only way. You can use an amp that accepts speaker level inputs or a line out converter. My amplifier has a remote bass volume ****, I would highly recommend this because the factory stereo takes bass out the more you turn up the volume.

Great, so let me get it clear. You used the PAC(Speaker Connection Harness) to go from the factory amp's speaker out puts into the Audiocontrol lc-6.1200. From there, you used the factory speaker wires into the Audiocontrol lc-6.1200 and get the power out. Right?

Yes, the pac harness just makes it easier to tap into the speaker wires after the amplifier. I do see that you stated that you don’t have navigation, so I’m not sure how your system works….

So I’ve been going through the speaker thread and can’t find anyone doing real subwoofer installs. I was wondering if anyone has mounted the amp in a location that can’t be seen and is out the way of anything. I want to put a subwoofer in but I want to be able to remove the box if needed for traveling or just if I need the trunk space. I want to mount the amp somewhere where it won’t affect anything and won’t get in the way, but can’t figure out where would be the best location.
Does anyone know if there’s space behind the back panel where the AC plug is so I can mount the amp there. Thanks in advance.
